Atmasphere Iam glad you mentioned they were not break in.When I heard them at Axpona they sound congested. I thought the anti cables are the one to blame. On video they sound much better.  
KLH model nine full range speakers
Anyway I prefer tubes than solid state If I have a choice.The owner of this KLH where I bought them. He is using Marantz tube amp .

This last closing of HF went thru short supplies and employees got Covid. According to one close to Rick who is from Texas one  cable or conditioner needs 42 parts. That was the time, also he bought expensive machine so he can manufacture in house...

Do you belong more to souce first or to speakers first school of thought ?
If I will have to start speaker first, so you know your room will be able to accommodate it. Once you have the speakers I will choose the right amp tubes or ss. Preamp , then source. Assuming cables are in the house.

Sharri you are right open box do have mileage in them, I did put lot of mileage with my SA10.My friend who rarely used his 20 yr old sony  9000es sacd still working? Therefore the more the player is being used, the lense lifespan shorten.
