The gender-split in audio
Hi, Wellen, I think Garfish's daughter has it right. Guys tend to be more single-minded about these things, and much more hung up on manipulating and trying to assert our mastery over our environment, whether it's hifi, cars, politics...
Vibrapods under speakers
I also have plumped up V-Pods by mildly baking them on a cookie sheet. If you fill their centers with a good apricot preserve, they look rather intriguing when done. I reported a negative experience with V-Pods and speakers on the earlier post Dou...
Speaker Fetish
I categorically deny the charges implicit in the disinformation AVGuy has posted. This donation program I am running for sicko audiophiles simply has to be tried to be believed. You'll be astonished how much better you feel. I failed to mention a ...

I do not have the dreaded disease that the rest of you are testifying about. However, my compassionate nature leads me to offer you a solution. So that you can rid yourself of the shame and guilt you feel, I will accept donations of equipment from...
I need TT Help: Please advise
Hi, Richard. I have a Planar 3 that's about 20 years old. The Japanese S-shaped arm that Rega used then is well-built and, I think, was considered perhaps _the_ budget arm in its time, but its time is past. The contemporary Rega arms do a _much_ b...
Holy Mackeral...The Meters do rule
You're in luck -- their old LP catalog is being re-released on CD. Try Cabbage Alley, Look-A-Py-Py, or Fire on the Bayou from their 70's work. But as you can guess, they've done lots of great stuff. While you're at it, you might also check out All...

Isolation for my Rega 3
Hate to bring the neurosis of the "Isolation vs Absorption" discussion over here, but to respond to my own post above: After an extended period of using cones, I've gone back to the original cup-shaped, rubber feet of my old Planar 3 (still with t...
dynavector 10x4 versus 10x4 mkII
I use the MKII (have not heard MKI) on an Origin Live RB250 arm with the Rega Planar 3 table. Works for me. Good tonal balance, smooth, good extension, top and bottom. Warmth is not my cup of tea, so I didn't go the Grado way. But perhaps mellower...

Isolation for my Rega 3
If I could, I would wall mount, like David. My Planar 3 is on my equipment rack, sitting on a BrightStar Big Rock. That does a good job of reducing grain. I looked for a cone-foot to couple the plinth to the Big Rock that would make the TT sound a...
cd spray tweaks?
I've tried a couple things from Mapleshade. Now that Cornfed has posted some of the claims, I do remember them, altho I paid no attention at the time. I tried MS because they seemed to be one of the "good guys" -- trying to produce useful stuff wi...
Shelf Material - Neuance
Oh, no matter, Brulee. It's not a real name, anyway.
A bad situation
Jeff, I agree with the majority here, but I am bothered that even two people think that the buyer has some obligation to share the burden here. The buyer in good faith sends a payment in advance to the seller -- that's totally for the seller's ben...
Shelf Material - Neuance
Re Subaru's earlier question about loading the top of the CDP, I had an experience somewhat like Dekay's. I've tried Webster's III Collegiate and other serious volumes on top of my CDP (Linn Karik III), but put them back to where they were more co...
