Need a monitor while floorstanders in storage How about the swan d1.1 se? It's on sale fr 50%off right now on audiogon. Looks like a steal to me at $500 brand new!
I feel like an idiot; lessons learned Tmsorosk, that's odd, none of the cord manufacturers have ever offered A/B proof. Seems like your friends could make a lot of money consulting for the cord companies...
Weakest Link? Your honest opinions. I'd second the speaker upgrade. Those were never a favorite of mine. I think you can see a big improvement for a modest investment. And speakers will be by far the most noticable change you can make.
What to do with my Ipod tunes? First thing you need is a standalone DAC. There are many on the market but you need something that will take a digital signal and convert analog. Then you need a digital iPod dock like the Wadia or similar. Or you can simply buy an airport express...
Is NAD C372 Integrated good match w/ Maggie1.7's? Yes, the NAD is stable at 4ohms. And I agree with Tbromgard, the big NAD would be a great match. That amp has a full rich sound that is a good compliment to the detailed sound of the 1.7.
My two cents... You should post pics of your system. Love to see it.
Best Rock Albums of 2012 Woudn't call those "rock". Folk rock is more like it. Happens to be right up my alley. I have 2 of the 3 you mentioned. If you like those, try these:Ben Howard - Every KingdomJack White - BlunderbussThe Barr Brothers - Self TitledAngus Stone - Bro...
My amp has no faults How do you assess no faults? Maybe my amp has no faults to me, but ask 10 other audiophiles and you'll get 10 different answers. There is no perfect amp in an objective sense because we have no way to measure perfection.Or are you just asking if a ...
Why no as many post about music vs equipment...... Your are right to point out that audiophiles are not necessarily musicphiles and musicphiles are even less likely to be audiophiles. Quite ironic. I happen to be both and their are plenty like me on this site. I don't post about music because I've...
possibility of refinishing speaker Well, for one thing, you better be dead set on keeping them for life. Once you do something like that resale value plummets to a fraction of their previous value.
Monitors that play huge Goatwuss, I'm sure the 805Ds do sound stunning, but big? Not quite. I've heard them. Big sound requires real bass. The 805Ds don't have it.
Mumford Sons That's funny because I'm a huge fan of their first release but this new release left me cold on my first two listens. Although I gave it a try again yesterday by coincedence and enjoyed it more.
Why are dealers so scared to sell product out of Br3098,I don't hear the gear before I buy it. I buy it, live with it for a few weeks and sell it if I'm not totally satisfied. Since I buy low, I can sell for little loss. With this sytem I get to home demo everything I buy. But, if the manufacture...
Why are dealers so scared to sell product out of For people that have a full service retail shop that actually keeps their half of the consumer bargain, I agree, those people should pay full retail price. Since the vast majority of audiophiles do not have such a retail establishment, we should n...
Why are dealers so scared to sell product out of Simple, the distributors don't want dealers competing. If you have competition than pretty soon, you'd have discounting, God forbid! It's a real shame that these disbributors and manufacturers are so shortsighted. Brick and Mortar audio is dead, l... |
