Tube Pre for Klipschorn
I've also tried Class A with Klipsch for a couple of months. My experience was with a Pass Labs Aleph 5 with vintage Heresy's. That combination also was very nice. Though it did have width and depth (first time I've heard SS have such depth) to th...
Anyone have a comment on the Wadia 270se Upgrade?
You may also want to consider sending it to Steve Huntley at Great Northern Sound. Steve had worked at both ARC and Wadia and now has his own company specializing in high-end mods, mostly for ARC and Wadia products. I've had him do my ARC LS-2B an...
Need help on speaker selection
I've not heard the Vandy's but have heard good things about them. I owned a Jolida 302B for a while. Great little integrated amp, and I'd bet the 502 is as well. I'd consider pairing it off with a vintage Klipsch horn-loaded speaker. Heresys or Fo...
Tube Pre for Klipschorn
Wow, that's a surprising input on the compatibility issue. I'll have to check in with my friend as he's never mentioned that issue to me and I know he has Khorns (as well as Belles and LaScalas). Glad you were able to get some input from the good ...
Is Audiophilia hereditary and or contagious?
Just scanning a few of the new posts this morning, if I were reading these from the outside of this crazy hobby I'd certainly be in line to sign the papers to have us all committed: Golf balls, Dish Soap, Masturbation......hey, wait a minute, this...
Tube Pre for Klipschorn
Calvin- Sorry, but I have no direct experience with the Horn Mono's to speak of. They do have 18db less gain than most of the other Quicksilver amps and for that reason may adress some of the noise issues you are having with your pre. I assume you...
Tube Pre for Klipschorn
Quicksilver amps are a great match with vintage Klipsch horn-loaded speakers IMO. I have LaScala's and Heresy's, and have also owned two sets of Forte II's. Of those the LaScala's are my favorites (same drivers as your Khorns, different housing) a...
Why my system has detail but no body & warm vocal?
Mejames- I can appreciate your experience with the cables you mention, but why would you doubt, or rather HOW could you actually DISAGREE with the statement by Newbee that is qualified with "In my experience". He was drawing from his own experienc...
Why my system has detail but no body & warm vocal?
I'd agree with Newbee. Tweaks and cables are not likely going to make major changes that I'm guessing you are looking for. A tweak by definition is to make SMALL adjustments to what is already there. If what you are looking for isn't already there...
Tubes v. SS: can you mix and match?
I've been contributing to another thread which has gone in the direction of asking some similar questions. I'm going to snip and post some of my observations from that thread to this one in the hopes that some of the questions I ask may be seen by...
Review: Klipsch La Scala Speaker
In an attempt to suggest a clue to the answer to my own question, .....and it may sound like I'm talking out of the side of my mouth here as I fully admit that I'm no sound engineer and the highly scientific and technical aspects of why this stuff...
Review: Klipsch La Scala Speaker
One thing Tubeking brings to mind in his response that I've been meaning to ask here: Just one more way I like tubes+horns......sitting there in the sweet spot you do get the full holographic effect and enjoyment of what they can bring to musical ...

Hey Bob- Many thanks for your input on the AA's. Were you talking about the AA's or the ALK's? When you refer to "smooth things out a bit" I wondered if you might have switched them since that is what I'd want to do to the ALK's? I found the AA's ...
Paolo Conte-recommendations.
What a great voice! He is Italian (a former lawyer from Asti). I have his "best-of" album that has quite a large number of his songs. Great disc! No doubt the cut you heard on a soundtrack was "Boogie" as it is on several soundtracks (two come to ...
Review: Klipsch La Scala Speaker
Hey Tubeking- Someone with your experience is a valued asset to a forum like this, so I hope that trend doesn't discourage you from contributing further. I think it is a general trend with Internet forums/mailing lists. As I said in my earlier pos...
