"High end speaker covers" do we need them?
At first I saw this thread title and said ‘not another way to waste my money’. Then I thought of all the times I’ve had work done at my house- different rooms, etc., that involved sanding, shop vacs, etc… I honestly don’t know that I’d definitely ...
NY audio show 2022
I will agree with someone that said he was disappointed in getting a two day pass. It was a small show, but getting to see/hear different equipment was great.  I liked the Audio Note room- they were playing real music.  The GT Audio room sounded p...
After years of separates, I'm going integrated. Anyone else do the same?
I’m also in the camp of downsizing with no regrets. Had separates of varying pedigree since 1995, and went to a Luxman 590AXII 4 years ago.  Headphone amp, phono stage, tone controls, great, great sound…  I didn’t audition any other integrated b...
Those who seek to deny access to information
I’m not sure if this is what you’re looking for, but it’s a smaller forum with some knowledgeable folk, and zero attitude. No one engages in battle over audio. No question is derided or belittled. Check it out. https://www.audionervosa.com
CDs And Green Markers. Please Don’t Laugh.
Funny thing is, every disc that I treated with ‘CD Stoplight’ sounds great. They are still among my collection, and I very well may have treated those that I thought sounded good in the first place- so confirmation bias or something like that? Li...
Spatial X5 speakers
FWIW, I have the Taket Batpro 2 supertweeters on top of my Spatial M3 Turbos, and use a couple of pea sized pieces of Mortite- it’s a rope caulk similar to Blu-tack. It’s held firmly in place for three months and counting. You can’t even tell it’s...
Recommendations for speakers with Luxman 509x
https://legacyaudio.com/products/view/signature-seNot at all clinical sounding and designed for closer wall placement. You’ll certainly get a lot of recommendations, so best of luck. My system is also in my living room- it can be harder to place e...
ezcrossover contact info
You’re probably way ahead of me, but I know he advertised his services on the AC website at the GR Research circle. Maybe try him through there.
sensitivity question
I will say this regarding speaker specs- I recently auditioned two speakers in my home- one manufacturer (Wharfedale Linton) stated the sensitivity at 90 db, the other (SVS Prime Pinnacle) 88 db. The SVS played louder for a given volume level, and...
Looking for a good Bluetooth speaker
JBL Flip or Charge models. Multiple ones to choose from. Excellent sound quality. JBL touts the waterproof capabilities, though I’m not sure about it floating. A number of friends and myself do love the sound quality.
Volume demands for crossover change
It may seem contradictory, but it’s usually amps with not enough power that damage speakers. You have no such issue- you have an amp that puts out 300 wpc into 8 ohms, and 500 wpc into 4 ohms. Even if those specs are optimistic, you’ve got it cove...
Volume demands for crossover change
https://www.manualslib.com/manual/600202/Nht-Vt-1a.htmlThe manual does show a 3db difference in sensitivity between the two settings. Every 3db drop in sensitivity requires twice as much amplifier power. I’m not sure exactly how that would manifes...
Between a Node 2i and DAC: Does Coax cable quality really matter?
I have a Node 2i, and recently upgraded the coax SPDIF cable and there certainly was an improvement to my ears. I went from a budget Blue Jeans Cable to a Kimber D60. You’re starting from a higher plateau, but the question was will I hear a differ...
Open Letter To REL, SVS, Hsu, etc., et al
Thank you.
Open Letter To REL, SVS, Hsu, etc., et al
Sure thing drussell. Those tracks are exactly what will be helpful. I’ve been using a cd from Alan Parsons- ‘Sound Check’ from ‘93. It gives some CD players fits- it has 92 tracks, and navigating them can be a pain. Small quirks make it less than ...
