Who are some of elite sub woofers? for music I like JL audio and Rel. Both would be a huge step up in quality. What is your budget and it is for just music or home theater too?something with an active crossover is always nice.
Focal 1038Be with Bryston? I can’t help you with the amp. I have only heard the 1037be (same speaker with a slightly different crossover to the tweeter). I would not call them lean but they are pretty neutral speaker in the bass. They don’t slam or have the texture in the b...
Sources for Focal 1038Be II There is a new pair of 1038 be (not sure if they are the “II”) Upscale audio’s Website for $6300. I would guess they bought out the last of the stock when they were discontinued.
Sell your $$$ cables and conditioners... affordable LITHIUM is here! Interesting. It is pretty cheap too.
Separate subs for bass management & LFE in a surround set up Not really what you are talking about but here is another way hook up your subs. JL audio subs will let you play both the LFE from your reciever AND the two channel high pass at the same time but you need a sub for each channel. JL audio inputs ar...
Using two small bookshelf speakers as a center channel Are these two speakers in addition to your right and left speakers? Technically you can wire them in parallel or series. Parallel will cut the impedance in half and will be hard on the amp. If you do that you should look up the impedance of your ...
Big speakers in small room at moderate volume levels Looks like the TAD ME-1 got a price drop to $9,995 (was $14,995) including stands. I have not heard them but I know they were brought up earlier in the thread. https://youtu.be/_DaUGkEloxs
Built in sub crossover I run my system through my JL audio’s Built in E112 crossovers and I can’t hear a difference. The subs are the cheapest part of my system. Like all things it will come down down to implementation.
Sub recommendation to augment Klipsch La Scala's ??? What ever you do get one with an internal crossover build in. It will make thing cheaper and easier. Sadly very few modes have this feature. JL e line or subs does. I am sure there are others too.
Big speakers in small room at moderate volume levels yyzsantabarbara,The vivids look nice but I always ignored them due to price. I have the opposite issue as you with a 27’x25’x7.5’ deticated room (real estate is cheap in Ohio). I have the setup off center and a carefully selected seating position ...
Big speakers in small room at moderate volume levels Good thread. I don’t have any speaker advice but most all of our rooms are not large enough to support bass waves without bending them. Even a 40hz wave is 28’ long and that makes even the 1/2 wave 14’. It is just the way it is… a speaker that goe...
What is the best way to tame a slightly bright speaker? Room treatments. Toeing then out out a bit to get to where the tweeters roll off could help too if it does not mess with other things too much. Just have to try and see. It is free.
Why so many used focals? Yes they look great and are easy to get.
Has anyone added a small subwoofer to 2 channel and been thrilled with the result? The answer your question yes I think adding a sub really helps. I the JL audio E110 is a good choice. If you have a pre-pro or dac to amp you just sit the sub between the two and use the active internal crossover (not just a low pass but a true 24...
New Speakers/Amps Shop the used market here for something local. PSB, Thiel, dynaudio, Kef, vandersteen, all have good "cheap" models. http://app.audiogon.com/listings/full-range-psb-imagine-t-towers-2013-10-06-speakers-44281-wadsworth-ohI would skip the sub for no... |
