Optimal speaker size for given room, or drivers? Find a dealer that will let you bring them home.... All of the speaker you listed should be ok ( some better than others). A word of caution about the 802Ds. They need a lot of space to sound ballanced. They tend to be a little boomy and they can ...
RB1080 for 803D? I just think there are good "budget" amps out there (Musical Fidelity, Arcam, Rotel, etc) that bring a lot of bang for the buck. I think it is best when you start a system to buy the best speakers you can. Buy a good "budget" amp and up grade the ...
RB1080 for 803D? Say you have 10 grand... You could buy $ 300 ( Bose 301s) and Mcintosh mono blocks or you could buy B&W 803D and an $800 Onkyo reciever.... Speaker make the Biggest difference.
RB1080 for 803D? While Rjhalla is right your Rotel is more than enough to get the speakers playing great. Get the speakers... think about amps later. The speakers are 90% of the equation. I have auditioned both the 803D and 802D on the RB 1080 back to back with Cl...
sub in small room with bookshelf advice needed Yes you can but it may come at the cost of image smearing/timing issues. I know a lot of people will claim there is no loss of image at 20z-40z... to each there own. I found I often needed to cross the speakers around 60z (or higher) to get them t...
Wilson better than Thiels? Well the two times I have auditioned the 3.7 I took a good bit of heavy metal ( not quite "casual vocals") with me. They did a very good job!
Paradigm Studio 20 v.s. B&W 685 I have not heard the models you are looking at but I have heard the 8S (newest model) and the 803D ( about the same price 8,000-9,000). The B&W 803d was much better. It had a wider more open midrang and was dynamic.I vote for the B&W
HELP B&W 802D or Revel Ultima Salon2 I like the 802D pretty well even though they take a lot of flack around here. I like B&W much better than a lot of bands (focal, sonas faber, etc) but there are speakers I like better ( Sophia, Thiel 3.7). How big is your room? The only real d...
Wilson better than Thiels? "FWIW, I find the Wilson's to be more dynamic, but the Thiels more linear and coherent."I agree 100% with this statement. I think that the 3.7 is the most coherent 3 way I have heard to date.
Wilson better than Thiels? Well (flame suit on) I think a lot of people perceive Wilson to be better because they cost MUCH more. If other companies such as ,Focal, B&W, Wilson, etc had the 3.7s in there line-up I bet they would be priced in the 18,000-25,000 rang. Peop...
Forward sounding speakers that Rock After reading your post one brand came to mind...Thiel. Give the 3.7 a listen and I think you will be pleased. The 802D does sound good with rock music (my favorite type of music too). But I don't think it is what you are looking for. They have a ...
Efficient speaker, big bad tight bass? You will not find what you are looking for in klipsch. They are lean and bright. I would in no way call their bass " big bad and tight". Look at Paradigm studio 100s. Much bigger bass with over all good sound.
Has anyone spent time with the Thiel 3.7? Vocals:The vocals seemed to be very musical. They did not seem etched but I was not looking for it either. The midrange simply played what was on the CD. Bright when it was bright and warm when it was warm... Nora Jones' voice was very transparent...
Has anyone spent time with the Thiel 3.7? I auditioned them once for about 3 hours with a Musical Fidelity A5 and matching CD player. I have auditioned many speakers and these are by far my favorite speakers. They have an extremely wide sound stage (because of flat drivers?) with pin poin...
paranoid listener-damaging speakers? uhmmm... worry about your ears not the speakers. |
