Are older series speaker cables a bad investment??
Sunnyjim-Absolutely! newer does not always = better. Most top tier cable/cord companies feel that every few years a newer 'product' must be developed and released. Therefore, leaving some very good older 'products' for the rest of us!Keep us poste...

Pass Labs XP-20 or Audio Research Ref 3?
Bo-you are certainly on to something w/ the room-correction thing. I have been to many dealers/retailers and have had poor auditioning experiences because of diminished room acoustics. Keep posting your experiments.Which gear is in your system?
Pass Labs XP-20 or Audio Research Ref 3?
Alan2-In separate systems I preferred the ARC Ref5 SE compared to the ARC Ref3. This pre is best mated w/ Wilson speakers and Transparent cables/cords. Probably the best tubed- pre out there, until I demo a Conrad Johnson ART3.Conversely, the Pass...
The year is 1986
Phasecorrect-I think we all owned the Cerwin Vega 'D ' series at one time or another through the 80's...laughing.On a serious tip, the CV offered a damn fine sound for mid-fi, lower hi-fi, when mated w/ Adcom gear. Many fine memories of those days...

Dynaudio C2 Platinum compared to B&W

Aerial Acoustics vs. Joseph Audio
Quicke-me as well. I really wanted to like the Aerial 7t/6 models, but was under-impressed. The gear in question was Classe' and Mark Levinson (no slouch there). Cables/cords were Transparent Opus (another no slouch). In comparison, Joseph Audio is...
ARC Ref CD-8 compared to CD-6 and/or Ref CD-9
Many Thanks! BIF.I, too, like gold CDs and SACDs. I have never had the opportunity to demo a CD8? I would like to someday. The ARC dealer network always updates to the latest + greatest, example the CD9. Keep me posted on which way you go.
