Best Solid State Amp For 10k Or Less
Hey Slick2, I believe Snook2 is bi-amping in a up/down configuration. You might want to email him, we've talked a few times, a real nice guy! I'm using Audio Tekna interconnects and speaker wire with a Kora tube pre-amp. The pre-amp is over kill f...
SACD WINS!
You may well be right. It's a shame that the format isn't getting outside a very small circle. The sound quality is so nice, it would be a shame to never see it given the chance to grow. My SCD-1 player must have about 400 hours on each laser now....
Isolation vs. Absorbtion
Redkiwi, I ordered the Neuance and it will be up to 4 weeks befor it's here. I was wondering if you ever tried "the shelf" from Black Diamond Racing. I have one under my amp and love it, but under my SACD or pre-amp it really wasn't successful. I'...
Traded the Most ?
Powercords, interconnects, speaker wire, isolation devices, shelf mat'l and power conditioners. The basic componants I have are very well matched right now, and the cost of upgrade is beyond my ability. The acssesories and tweeks can be as importa...
Soundstage - Too much?
Much better communicated Sedond. I think the sidewall reflection does smear the image, damn your good.
Tube PreAmp Solid State Amp
The idea is a great one. If your looking for the slam of a solid state amp and the warmth of tubes the combo. is about the only way to go. I've used the same combo. for the past six years and have been very pleased. Your selection of amps is inter...
Soundstage - Too much?
If side wall created the image outside the speakers, I should hear that more when a insturment is at the far right. That just isn't the case, I can have an insterment loudly playing far right and here nothing outside the speaker. I believe it's th...
Seeking Opinions of Shuntata Hydra
Not to get off topic, I was telling my wife about this post (I want a Hydra too, but no money here) I said I wonder when the first post will come that states a guy finally got him 1972 Marantz solid state to open up! "Only 2,371 hours of burn in!!"
Digital Smear???
Sorry, I agree with the above masses. I wanted to audition a The PS300 and a power cord from a local dealer I've bought from for years. I saw the power cord in an Audiogon ad and called to see if the price he had (about 30% above the going rate on...
Kora Amps
I've had the Kora Eclipes pre-amp for three years now. I realize your looking for information on the amp, but my experience has been great. A very well built unit, I've experienced no problems at all. I would suggest talking to Steve Davis at Hi-F...
The best and worst Audiogon poster's
Not only are they wonderful people, there are some great skiers among them. I became very good friends with a number of members of the Mormon faith when I skied Alta every year for 15 years in a row! I could never understand how a persons beliefs ...
Fast Amplifier
I was just going to post a similair thread, GOOD TIMING. I was playing around with different footer and shelf materials and was amazed at how the pace changes with different combinations. I don't get it, I see how the electronics can play a part, ...
Keeping cables off the floor
There have been quite a few threads involving this tweak but they would take some digging. It may be a good time to bring it around again. I am a believer in the idea, and have all my wires in air and not touching any others. The background will b...
Footers/Shelf Material
Redkiwi, I've followed your progress on shelf material with great intrest. I know that finding maple was an issue for you and you are reviewing it now. I'm interested in following up your experiments with different thicknesses of maple, mahogany, ...
