Worst Name for A Piece of Equipment Apple's new iPod Hi-Fi. Oxymoron.Don't get me wrong. I love my iPod (with Koss PortaPros). And the Hi-Fi is probably decent for what it is. But, it's akin to equating an SUV with a sports car. What do you say we exile all the ad copy writers to a ...
Which components knocked you out on first listen? Spica TC-60s. Incredible value. But, they're a bugger to position. Got 'em two weeks ago, and am still trying to find the best arrangement. They don't respond as expected to position changes. They were muddy, flat, and imaged poorly on 26" stands ...
Which speaker is the master of IMAGING ???? That's Spica TC-60s.
Which speaker is the master of IMAGING ???? My $400 eBay specials compare favorably with the Gallo Reference 3s and Martin Logan Aeons I auditioned last week. And, that's with an H/K receiver and CD player. Lacking the dynamics of the Gallos and the resolution of the Martin Logans, but when...

Comments, please, on Spica TC-60 setup. Connected the Spicas and Missions to the A & B speaker outputs on my H/K. Sensitivity is very close. The Missions add some presence and dynamics, but they completely muck up the Spicas' imaging. Not a good combo. Think I'll sell the Missions. ...
Comments, please, on Spica TC-60 setup. Opalchip,Thanks for the feedback. I've found that the listening position needs to be as far from the line between the speakers as the distance between the speakers. As for toe-in, I came to the same conclusion as you did - straight at the ears. Ri...
Comments, please, on Spica TC-60 setup. Moving the Spicas closer (8') to the listening position, spreading them further apart (1' from side walls), toeing them in more, and lowering them from 26" to 18" has brought much better front-to-back imaging and a wider soundstage. Dire Straits' ... |
