I bought a used (dealer demo) pair of these cables and used them for several weeks.  Then I sold them.   I had the same experience as mrotino.  They made as big a difference (not positive) in my system (PS Audio BHK 300 amps and Wilson Alexia spea...
Mod for Sony SCD-1 or Different Player?
I had the level 4.5 VSEI mod done to my stock SCD-1 several months ago. I did this based on many reviews I had read. I picked the VSEI mod precisely because it allowed to keep the stock sound if I wanted it. I agree that the performance on redbook...
Problem with Electrocompaniet DAC
I called Electrocompaniet US distributor. They said it may well just be that a charge of static electricity effected the DAC, and that all I had to do was reset the unit by turning it off and on. This seems consistent with what has happened.
SACD 2 channel vs Redbook 2 Channel
I can see why some people might think that SACD is not a big enough improvement over Redbook CD to warrant changing formats. But having listened to both, I have a hard time understanding why people think that Redbook CDs are no improvement and tha...
Harry Weisfeld Was Right All Along
I have the a TNT MKV/JMW12.5/Van den hul, Black beauty combo. I used the HiFiNews test record to set the "anti-skate" I found that twisting the wires does have an effect on tracking in that the mistracking buzz will start in one channel or the dep...
SONY SCD-1 vs the New Generation of Competition
I have a Sony SCD-1. I bought it several months ago. I can't say how it compares to earlier units, but I'm not aware of people clainig major differences. I think it is a WONDERFUL redbook CD player. I can't say how it compares to the most expensiv...
Do SACD player start up slower
My SCD-1 is located across the listening room. The long delay gives me time to walk back to the couch, sit down, take a sip from my glass of wine and relax before the music starts. Perfect! Much better than playing an LP, when the music always sta...
Is SACD winning over DVD-A?
I with Jposs on this one. I listen mostly to LPs. I bought an SCD-1 (3k) because I wanted to get into SACD and also to upgrade my CD player. Well, I LOVE the SCD-1. I think it is execellent on regular CDs, though I coudln't compare it to super exp...

Cartridge suggestions for around 2K
Jfech:Try this site http://www.high-endaudio.com/RC-Cartridges.htmlI have read this fellow's reviews. IMO he's a very strange man, sort of a zealot. Too many axes to grind to be trusted.
Cartridge suggestions for around 2K
I am using a van den hul black beauty on my VPI TNT MK V/JMW 12.5 combo. The BB is high compliance cartridge and has a .55 mv output, which should be plenty for you. I think it's a fantastic match. I couldn't be happier with the sound of this set-...
Question for SCD-1 Owners
Czbbcl:Do you hear ANY mechanical movement other than the top opening and closing?
Question for SCD-1 Owners
Tubeguy45The top plate seems to move smoothly when opening and closing. The noise I'm referring to occurs independently of this movement. It's not loud and the other posts above seems to suggest/confirm that it is typical and not a sign of any pro...

LP 12 Owners-If you were going to buy a new TT ...
But with a Linn you will never know for sure that it is properly set up and functioning at peak potential. There will always be that small little birdy inside your head saying "the bounce may not be right any more", etc etc. Life is too short for ...
