Speaker Spikes - Working Principle So just an update on the Herbie's spike decoupling gliders I picked up, they're fanatic. Upper frequencies are cleaner, more detailed and have much more depth and nuance to them. Mid frequencies didn't change much for me. Lower register bass notes...
Young audiophile metal head looking to level up speaker choice I listen to primarily hardcore, punk and grind and my room is smaller than yours at 9x13. I’d recommend any room this small to load up on bass traps and at treat first reflections with anything you can afford. Bass bloat was a problem in my smalle...
When you can't unhear ! I just purchased a set of cone spike decoupling gliders from Herbie's and I can't believe the benefits it's provided being upstairs on carpeted subfloors. I should have started with speaker isolation before system upgrades and I'm sure it would ha...
Duplicate Serial Numbers If they're "pretty high end" and they told you they can't keep their serial numbers sequential without duplication, I'd have a hard time believing they'd support or warranty their products if something happened. Major red flag for the brand.
Speaker Spikes - Working Principle @goose i see. Mind telling me more specifically what the Herbie's did to your system, how it didn't work for you and how the Townshend's did? I've been eyeing the Townshend products, but am starting with the gliders first to see the impact. I'm ho...
MICHI 8 Amp(s) Hey Ozzy, mind telling us more about how they compare to your past amps? Going from atma-sphere and pass to michi has me curious.
My New Year’s Wish for my fellow audiophiles. Positive messages, I dig it. Happy 2024 to all.
Manley Chinook SE MK2 @lewm my Chinook, which I believe was the mk1, was really silent. Not noisy at all. Anyone that had a noisy Chinook, in my opinion, needs to investigate tubes. Unless they consider ear to speaker silence a must. The Chinook was the first tubed ph...
Speaker Spikes - Working Principle @goose I just ordered Herbie's gliders and I'm in the exact scenario of your room. What were your thoughts on them versus spikes? Our TV room is right below my listening room so I'm hoping the gliders give a little more bass isolation versus spike...
Manley Chinook SE MK2 I went from Chinook to Allnic H-5500 and loved the move so much it forced me to continue to upgrade phonos.
Do Poor Quality Modern Pressings Provide Any Value? @larsman that's very true. GZ just had a track record for poor sonics and I've had more poor quality records from them so they get the best. I guess we hold the label accountable to the pressing quality and the labels/bands accountable to the pres...
Do Poor Quality Modern Pressings Provide Any Value? @larsman do we know why or how it happens? I've heard records that sound horrible compared to digital versions. Is this from how the source files are sent in? Is it from a label literally looking at this as a profit center and not listening to tes...
Do Poor Quality Modern Pressings Provide Any Value? @larsman why does their quality swing in such big directions. I have vastly more GZ presses that are poor versus quality pressings. I'll take unknown plants if GZ as a general rule to be completely honest.
"Hardly Used / Less than 100 Hours / Took out for pics only"???? I just bought a Micro Benz Ruby that I've wanted to try for years. Decided after less than 15 hours it's not my cartridge and I prefer my Dynavector Dv-XX2 more. The Benz will be up for sale for a quick loss. Sometimes you know yourself and reali...
Nowhere to hear speakers and amps anymore! There is also Lone Crow in Santa Rosa. Oh and Lavish Hifi. |
