Attn. Videohydra, Is Pulse on DVD? I have it and "Quiet..." on VHS. Haven't seen these anywhere. Thanks, Sonny
Air Velocity Transformer: Is This A Solid Theory?
I have a pair of ESS AMT 1 Towers, that are almost 30 years old. They use the Heil for the frequencies above 800 hz. In all of these years, I have yet to hear a transducer that does highs and especially transients better than the Heil. The 10" woo...
Are Sub-woofers really for music?
I have a Velodyne HGS-15 and it sounds great for just music. It has very low distortion which gives it a very clean and punchy sound. It has a remote so you can make adjustments from your chair, when necessary.Low powered subs can be boomy, when p...
Great Vintage Amps-which one for you?
I have a Phase Linear amp that is almost 30 years old, and it is still cranking. I am going to have it worked on though, as I was advised that some of the internal parts need replacing from time to time. When I get it back, I will put it into a vi...
SACD Opinions: Gimmick? Like it? Don't? Why?
The IAR article in Kana's post above, says it all, I think. SACD doesn't work above 8k hz. Although, it does sound very good below that range. DVD-A has the potential to be the superior medium, as soon as they get serious, and start to pump out so...
Meridian 507, Rega Jupiter, Music Fidelity..ect ??
I auditioned the 507 at home, and was impressed with the detail, but it was a little too bright in my system. I bought a Consonance CD 2.2 player and I am very happy with it. It is a NEW player in your price range. Sonny
Anyone build a speaker using the heil tweeter?
I just ordered a pair of SEAS 8" mid-woofers, to try as replacements for the original drivers. I will be retrofitting them as soon as they come. I am also using a powered sub, which has made a great improvement. If the SEAS don't work with the old...
XLR to RCA adapters
Muralman, If your eAR2 and your pre are fully balanced, wouldn't you benefit by having a CD player that is balanced as well? I have read that if equipment is balanced, it would sound better using it that way. Sonny
Ground loop, cheater plugs, power cords, many ques
I just saw the PS Audio site, they have a removeable ground on their new power cords.Like Lapaix above, my new Exact Power piece has revealed ground loop problems in my system, but because of the improvements it gives, I'm still looking for soluti...
Sahuaro cables, what can you tell us about them?
How do they sound? How do they compare to others throughout the product line, IC's, PC's, etc? I'm not looking for anyone to reveal any manufacturing secrets, just the music. Sonny
Biamping 101
I am just starting to get my bi-amped system together. I will be using a Behringer DCX 2496 active digital crossover, which goes between your pre-amp, or source, and the power amps. You can also use it to tri-amp, or to connect a subwoofer, bypass...
ADCOM GFP-750 question
Bent Audio NOH passive is the one that I'm looking for. You can buy them direct for around $1500. Great reviews. Sonny
Phantom Center sound better than a center speaker?
I am using two speakers for my center channel, one on each side of the monitor. I never could get used to speakers above or below. It might be easier to get two smaller speakers of the same brand as your towers, as I did. You can use a Y adapter f...
Is solid state on the brink of extinction?
Khrys, I am the happy owner of a pair of "heils, ESS AMT 1 Towers, that I bought in the 70's. For a while I was "seeking" another pair, here and on ebay. But since ESS is still in business, I bought some speakers direct. I will also be purchasing ...
Is solid state on the brink of extinction?
Muralman, I was wondering if you have heard the PS Audio HCA-2, or especially, a modded version? I have an HCA, and have been thinking of mods, or possibly getting an eAR2 or even and eAR Enigma. I would like to try bi-amping my system, and though...
