Why is the market for used Levinson amps so slow?
Where have you been trying to sell the amp? Can't find an ad under your user name here....It was a few months ago on Audiogon, and after the failure I've been watching the Levinson amp market for awhile to see what was going on, hence this thread.
Why is the market for used Levinson amps so slow?
Could it be because most people by now have figured out the Levinson "house" sound and don't like it?I have heard ML amps in three different systems and never cared for the sound any time. Now it might have been something other than the amps, but ...
Why is the market for used Levinson amps so slow?
05-14-12: SebrofOnly one possible reason - Sellers believe the pieces are worth more than they are worth. I agree, of course. Just last year 334s were going for ~$3500, and I think to move mine now I'd have to offer them for $2000. I need the spac...
HELP B&W 802D or Revel Ultima Salon2
Jeff, of course you realize that the signature of a great speaker is that it makes every recording sound different. That's neutrality for you. ;-) "Good song, bad song..."I don't consider the 802D "lesser", I consider it different. To my ears the ...
Is good customer service about dead?
I don't agree. I have received great customer service from these companies:1. Revel speakers.2. ATI amplifiers. Outstanding in this case.3. Benchmark Media.4. Emotiva.5. Velodyne.6. Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs.7. Blue Jeans Cables. Another outstand...
HELP B&W 802D or Revel Ultima Salon2
Jeff, the Salon 2 is very sensitive to room placement for a lot of parameters, especially bass response. Much more so than my previous Legacy Focus speakers were, by a long shot. I've mentioned in other threads that when my Salon 2s are set up for...
HELP B&W 802D or Revel Ultima Salon2
Before you spend a zillion dollars replacing the Salon 2s you might consider analyzing your system. I highly recommend a Dayton Audio OmniMic set-up from Parts Express. It'll run on any PC. You might find that you have a big suck-out in the 500Hz-...
Are the JL Fathom subs really that good....
Interesting. Since your post, Bizango1, I've more carefully listened to see if I could tell where the subwoofer is in my room. I have to admit the results inconclusive, for two reasons. First, my sub is positioned about midway between my main spea...
Are the JL Fathom subs really that good....
Chris, I don't know how big your room is, but at a distance of about 12 feet from the sub I can't tell where it is.Too bad we're not all in the same neighborhood. Hearing each other's systems is great fun, and talking is better than posting.Nvp, I...
Are the JL Fathom subs really that good....
Bizango1, if bass is omnidirectional, and that's a physical fact below 100Hz, then by definition you can only localize a source by means other than listening. :-)Bass is a funny phenomenon because you feel it as much as you hear it. Your sense of ...
Are the JL Fathom subs really that good....
If you place one sub in the same plane as the main speakers you can't tell where the sub is, assuming a 60Hz 12db/octave crossover. If you place the sub closer or farther from the listening position than the mains you may have to adjust the arriva...
Revel Ultima Solon 2s w/ Pass Labs amps
Oops, I just noticed a math error from an edit I did. 104db would only take 128W. Still, 107db isn't extraordinary at one meter in a large room, so the 300wpc recommendation is still valid.
Revel Ultima Solon 2s w/ Pass Labs amps
Everything depends on your room size and absorption characteristics, and how loud you like to listen. The Salon 2s are rated at 86db/2.83v @ 1 meter. If you like to listen to music with peaks of about 95db at your listening position (loud, but not ...
Which is more accurate: digital or vinyl?
Terry9 says:"Were it true that ultrasonic distortion was inaudible, SACD would be no improvement on CD, which is not observed. Therefore, I stand by the assertion that total distortion is what is important, until it is proved otherwise."Actually, ...
Can DAC with volume control act as Pre-amp?
Totally agree on that HDR remote control. The buttons are in illogical places and they are hard to read in dim light. It feels nice in your hand though.
