New Zu Mission cable
I recently bought a pair of Zu Libtec speaker cables an a trio of Zu Bok power cords. I got the Libteks first, to see how they did between my Manley 300b amps and my new Zu Essence speakers. The Libtecs replaced a pair of Transparent networked cab...
Where to put my new power cable?
Well, I received the new power cords yesterday. I ended up getting three of them. I decided to plug one to each Manley 300b amp and one into my Shrimp pre. I got home relatively late last night, so I only listened for a short while and at very low...
Where to put my new power cable?
TBG,Ha, I mean 'consensus' quite loosely. I know what you mean about not finding it. I own a pair of Zu Essence speakers. Just look up the comments on them; people either hate them or love them, there is no middle ground. I only bought mine once I...
Where to put my new power cable?
Many thanks folks. I did look through the cable threads previous to posting my query. The reason I posted this one was in the hopes of getting a less ambiguous answer to the question than I found elsewhere. Usually, when I research out a question,...
Where to put my new power cable?
Very funny Bojack. However, I'd hope I've yet to garner the kind of animosity that would warrant such a suggestion. Unpleasantly electrifying, I'd imagine.Cheers,Ivan
A Zu / Tekton / Omega Speaker Positioning Thread
Well, my speakers are 7' 4" apart, tweeter to tweeter. My sitting position is 14' away. The sidewall and rear positions are a little strange because my speakers are not really on the wall. They are in a corner position. If I measure from the neare...
A Zu / Tekton / Omega Speaker Positioning Thread
Hello,I just purchased a pair of Zu Essences. I heard them at a dealer, driven by some sort of Arc tube amp. They certainly sounded dynamic, but I found their soundstage to be to forward for my liking; a bit bright, too. I asked the dealer for a h...
Please Advise me on Building a System on a Budget
You can get a very credible vinyl system without spending, relatively, too much money. Say, a used Rega P3 ($450), a used Project Tube Box ($300) and a new Dynavector cartridge ($425). It would take a lot of money to beat this combo...
Please Advise me on Building a System on a Budget
Alright, I'll give it a shot.Zu Audio Omen (high efficiency speaker--will give you flexibility with amps--stunning dynamics without any shrillness) You might be able to get one for $1000.Onix Sp3 tube integrated. (this is an amazingly sweet soundi...
Passive and active biamp together
Marco,I finally took a good look at your system. Wow, I bet it sounds amazing as it is. I also had a look at your speaker's specifications and I don't believe that you need to bi-amp with a 50 watt amp. I have never heard an 845 tube amp, but in m...
Passive and active biamp together
Marco,No, I did not remove the internal crossover from my speakers. I simply removed the jumper between the binding posts. My situation is very similar to yours. A third set of amps would be required to remove the internal crossover, a separate se...
Passive and active biamp together
Marco, The outboard crossover made a huge difference for me. I was trying to run relatively inefficient speakers with an 11 watt tube amp. The amplifiers were really struggling to drive my speakers. The outboard crossover took most of the load off...
Monitor/Sub for low-powered tube amps
With a 10k budget, why not try a full range, high efficiency, speaker? Say, something from Zu audio or Coincident... I suspect that a properly voiced full range speaker will readily beat a sub/monitor setup--less hassle, too.
Speaker cable to hook up a 12v AC trigger?
Thank you very much Elizabeth. That's great news. I wont have to add another run of wire to my amps...
My universal player is dying. Upgrade suggestions?
Yeah, my 2910 is about 4 years old. I never had an issue with it before. I figure the cost of repair warrants an upgrade. I am curious about the Oppo. It gets good reviews and uses Sabre DAC chips. I have an iDecco which uses a Sabre chip & it...
