Outer ring - who uses and what are your findings
I own an SME Model 10 as well as Michell Gyro SE. Michell’s clamping system works fine, but SME’s is state of the art. If a record can’t be flattened by SME, it should be tossed into the garbage and life goes on. It would have to be visibly warped...

@brf There is no collet on the SME. I clearly explained how it works. As I told you in the other thread, please take the trolling elsewhere.

@brf That’s not how SME works. SME system flattens a bolw shape warped record on either side. Surface of the platter and the bottom of the clamp are machined to a specific geometry. There’s a metal disc that is placed under the record. Once the cl...
anti slip for turntable belt
Talcum extends the belt’s life, OP was asking just that. It also prevents belt squeak and other noises. All turntable belts slip and will always slip. The motor is trying to move a very massive platter from rest. Of course it will slip.
MC cartridge input - Lyra Delos or AT Art9 (or higher AT)
Had all of those cartridges, my recommendation is Ortofon 2M Black. It’s visceral and a spiritual experience.

@lewm SME is not just a center clamp/weight. It shapes the record to the platter. You should know better.

Talcum.
Parasound JC 3+ Phono Preamp Hum
@ericsch Do me these two tests.1.) Disconnect the turntable from the JC3+, but leave everything else connected. Short both RCA inputs (center hole to outer sleeve) on the JC3+. Now turn the volume up and report back if the hum is still present.2.)...
Tekton Double Impacts
Basically the only way to infringe your patent (and even that’s debatable) is to claim the same exact nonsense you do. But why would anyone want to do that? Other than that, thousands of other manufacturers can and do use these simple inexpensive ...
Mundorf MKP Audiophiler or ClarityCap ESA ?
@timlub Copper/silver/tin/film are always superior to any metallized capacitors. Maybe not always for aluminum/film. As terminating the leads or anything to aluminum is problematic. Even so, metallized capacitors are sprayed with conductive paint/...
Mundorf MKP Audiophiler or ClarityCap ESA ?
@timlub Film/foil construction is always superior. If I had a choice, I’d use Teflon, but the price is ridiculous. Poly/tin Theta is a wonderful alternative, priced reasonably, and come in values up to 12uF. Styrene/tin is even better, but again p...
Mundorf MKP Audiophiler or ClarityCap ESA ?
@beetlemania Thiel used CYC as bypass capacitors. They’re film. Was this ever questioned? 2.4s’ main capacitors are Solen or Axon branded (all made by SCR), and even several electrolytic capacitors. I recommend you leave this project alone.
Mundorf MKP Audiophiler or ClarityCap ESA ?
@beetlemania Go for it. But CSA won’t be much of an upgrade from the existing Solen/Axon caps.MultiCap RTXs are amazing, but not for work crossover work. If you want a real upgrade, use film/foil, otherwise why bother?
Parasound JC 3+ Phono Preamp Hum
There’s nothing wrong with the Parasound. Don’t listen to bpoletti, he’s a known troll around here. Others have given good advice. When it comes to ground problems, it’s impossible to predict the cause. You just have to try things until you solve ...

Complete waste of time and a lot of money. Best way to flatten records is an SME style of system. Screw on clamp with a specially shipped bottom and a washer under the record. After getting my Model 10, I no longer worry about warped records.
