SME IV Tonearm and Warped Records
@cjaronica Why not just throw the warped records away and get flat ones?
Simaudio MOON 610LP with Lyra Kleos
60Hz hum is usually improper grounding or due to a ground loop. Not easy to solve. Make sure that the cartridge leads are snug. Tonearm has ground continuity all the way to the ground post. You may even try disconnecting the ground cable entirely ...

Is it humming or hissing? Because these are completely unrelated. And just a heads up, you will not be able to get rid of the hissing noise.

I stick to real companies who have been in business manufacturing cartridges for a long time (i.e. Audio Technica, Ortofon, Nagaoka, etc.) and have never had any problems whatsoever. If a problem is suspected, then it should be checked by the manu...
SME IV Tonearm and Warped Records
@cleeds All cartridges should have their tops parallel to the record’s surface and all of those angles you speak of will be correct if the manufacturer didn’t muck something up during assembly. If the cartridge is out of spec, get a new one. Simpl...

@cleeds Hmmm, I disagree. One should never ever align VTA to the cantilever. VTA should be aligned by either having the top of the cartridge be parallel to record’s surface, or if you’re Fremer, one can use a microscope to look at the stylus’ SRA....

I've been using SME products for nearly two decades now and have never seen or experienced that problem. I heard it on the forums once or twice before, but always figured it was a bad rumor. Properly set up, serious warps play without a problem in...
SME V Tonearm on eBay Hong Kong Sellers are FAKE!!!
@lewm I have filed multiple complaints with eBay and they did not even bother responding to a single one. I’ve been a member on eBay since the late 90’s with a huge 100% feedback. But I guess that doesn’t matter to them. So long as the buyer is cl...
Replace a 0.5 mV Grado Reference Sonata 1 for a Dynavector-DV20X2-H 2.8 mV ???
My vote is for 2M Black. My favorite modern cartridge.
Ugraditus is calling....again. Phono stage?
@chakster I'll have to give that JLTI a try sometime.
SME V Tonearm on eBay Hong Kong Sellers are FAKE!!!
Some unknowing fool bought that fake tonearm for $2125 during the last auction a week ago.Since January 1st of this year, those scumbags have sold 7 fake SME V tonearms, averaging $2000 per sale. I reported most of them. eBay took absolutely no ac...
Cartridge for stock Technics 1200G tonearm
@tzh21y With tubes one gets to enjoy that tube sound and mystical/magical open loop design. But at the same time sound takes a severe hit from the coupling caps and transformers. And there are no tube phonos suitable for low output MCs on the mark...
Cartridge for stock Technics 1200G tonearm
If if you want to stick to MC, I recommend Audio Technica ART9, or any van den Hul.

@tzh21y No, Lyra would not sound good via a tube phono. You want to know what bright is? Listen to Lyra through the 6922 tube.
Ugraditus is calling....again. Phono stage?
I’m also interested in finding the holy grail phono stage. When it comes speakers, amps, turntables, etc. I have it all pretty much covered, or at least know where I want to go next. But a phono preamplifier is the absolute hardest component to get...
