Wilson Alexia 2
I upgraded from a pair of original Alexia's to Alexia 2's last year. No regrets and No complaints. I haven't heard a speaker I prefer to the Wilson Alexia 2. This post is more about powering the Alexia 2. I've tried about a dozen top-notch amps wi...
EMM Labs or PS Audio?
I have little doubt that the latest and greatest EMM Labs stuff is better than their old. But, according to the EMM Labs website, the XDS1 is still listed as an active product in their line. Plus the fact that I own one would make the comparison t...
EMM Labs or PS Audio?
I'm curious how different the EMM Labs DV2 is from the XDS1 v3? I have both an XDS1 v3 here, as well as a Berkeley Ref 3. Both Great, in their own way. The EMM Labs is more forward, and a bit richer. The Berkeley is a bit leaner and cleaner. 8 hav...
Yesterday's Spinners
PS Audio is just announcing a new Perfectwave SACD/CD transport. Should be a solid option for those who want a new disc transport. I used to have a PS Audio Directwave transport, and it did a great job feeding a SOTA DAC.
Yesterday's Spinners
Stereo5: So sorry I took the liberty to refer to a CD player as a "spinner". Oh, the disc Does have to Spin for the machine to be able play it, does it not?  Ugh!
VTL with KT120 tubes
As curious as I am, I don't have the stones to try it. I have a S-400 II. It sounds absolutely divine with Tung Sol 6550s, and NOS Mullard and RCA small signal tubes.
EMM Labs or PS Audio?
Good insight, in_shore. After your digital shoot-out, which one or two brands stood out as best?
What ever happened to Krell ?
Which Krell are you using?
Audioquest WEL vs Wild Blue
I would assume so. WBY no longer shows as available at The Cable Company.
Turntable got absolutely crushed by CD
I appreciate your input, Audio Doctor. I do have some digital flexibility here with both the T+A and the Berkeley. How much mainstream recorded music is available at DSD 256 or 512?  I bought the T+A strictly as a SACD player, but recognize its ot...
Turntable got absolutely crushed by CD
As far as CD digital goes, I have a Berkeley Audio Design Reference 3 DAC fed by a PS Audio Directstream transport through a Synergistic Research Galileo AES/EBU cable. I have a T+A PDP 3000 HV for SACD play. The Berkeley rig surpasses the T+A for...
Turntable got absolutely crushed by CD
I know I'm about a year late on this thread, but only recently have I had an experience to contribute. I've been all digital for over 30 years. I decided to buy an entry level turntable just to plug it in the system to see how it would compare. I ...
Is the Manley Steelhead still relevant?
I've spoken with Kevin Deal's team at Upscale Audio. They highly recommend the Manley Steelhead.
Is the Manley Steelhead still relevant?
Steelhead, Not Stingray. Trout, Not Ray. Lol
Is the Manley Steelhead still relevant?
I am intrigued by the Manley Stingray because of its multiple inputs, and adjustable cartridge gain and loading. A friend of mine disagrees, saying the added complexity detracts from the absolute sound quality. He runs a Lamm LP 2.1 phono stage th...
