Thanks for reply. My question is less about what equipment and integration issues (that would a whole, complicated discussion alone) but rather other folks experiences who have tried this and do they feel they got substantial benefit from an extra...
Magnepan 3.7's versus 20.1's?
I have a 20X15X9' room. Back wall opens to entrance hall of house via 8 foot wide portal so room may be "bigger" in that sense.MG20's work well I find. I prefer tweeters on outside and have good central imaging with msuicians hanging in space (not...

A Pass Xover set at the speaker manufacturers recommended crossover points and a pair of Bryston 4bst's has worked very well for me.I have not tried other amps
Hum issue - driving me more crazy
Rwwear - hum started at time of new XOVER. BUT this was also same time that I "buried" the IC's under the floor and got new IC's. Thus multiple simultaneous changes. IC's above floor are great.Ozzy - No TV or SAT in system - LP, DAC and CD player ...
Hum issue - driving me more crazy
Dan_edIf you are going to lift the ground (cheater plugs) try to do that on the preamp and let everything ground through the amps. >>>>>>>>Will try but I think this worsens other humsIf you haven't already, try to plug both...
Hum issue - driving me more crazy
Elizabeth-> same IC. My cables are well and DOUBLE shielded. Gs5556-> No fluorescent under the floor. No LEDBalanced appeals to me as best easiest possible solution. Should help with noise anywayNow if I had only made the holes in the floor ...
Hum issue - driving me more crazy
Page 2 (Continued)I have used cheaters in all possible combinations with resolution of most of the hum BUT not the residual in the right channel only.I have disconnected the dimmers from the circuits in room->no helpReversing amps and XOVER out...
Crossover
I have no noise now. My point, which I guess I did not make clear, is that I don't want to get any for what _might be_ fractional improvements with a crossover.
Looking for a new speaker. Wilson Maxx II ??
Check out the Magneplanar 20's. Nice big image, good bass to 30Hz, very addictive and fairly priced.
Wife approval factor?
I thought this wasn't supposed to be a critical website of other folks taste and understanding (or lack thereof.)
