Looking for a new (preowned OK) line stage under $5K: suggestions?
I paid $2000 for a mint condition Audible Illusions M3B, which was one of the best purchases I've made in audio. L3B (similar to M3B but with a remote and without phono) is also worthwhile to consider.
Where/how to start?
Thanks. It appears that Bluesound Node (N130?) + Tidal subscription using OPPO’s DAC is one of the best (simplest and cheapest) options. Once I get used to the streaming music, I’ll think about upgrading to a more high end streamer. [edit] I cam...
Where/how to start?
Many thanks for quick responses. Anyway, I should have said that I am a complete idiot in digital audio. I have two power amps (Plinius SA102 and Quicksilver monoblocks) and two preamps (Audible Illusions M3B and Plinius M16P). For the starter, ...
Upgrade path question with $2k to spend
It is better to have two separate systems for 2 channel audio and HT. I had a $3K Yamaha receiver (one of their flagships over 20 years ago) that sound much better on movies (with DVDs and Blue-Ray disc) than my 2 channel systems. My Yamaha sound...
Local pick up only…
Shipping cost is crazy these days. I asked a seller in Florida for shipping an SACD player which weighs 32lb to Michigan, and it was $150. Actually the quote was from the shipping calculator provided by US Audio Mart. I offered $50 for shipping vi...
After years of separates, I'm going integrated. Anyone else do the same?
I am sure that I'll be going for integrated in about 10 years when I think I would lose much of my hearing capability. Also, for convenience and space. No vinyls, no CDs, strictly digital streaming. I don't think I can handle adjusting VTF, ... on...
Your thoughts on my quest for new speakers
Enjoy the music with your new Gershman. This is the first ever the case that somebody went for something close to what I suggested, even though it was a pure coincidence. 🤣
Dust cover up or down?
People spend tons of money to reduce any adverse effects on their turntable caused by vibrations. Removing the dust cover while playing a record is probably the cheapest way to reduce microphonic vibrations that will cause distortion in sound. Som...
Your thoughts on my quest for new speakers
The Gershman Acoustic Avant Garde’s are outrageously good speakers in the price range you mentioned I would not say my Grand Avant Garde is outrageously good, but it is darn good! Your room is not that big and if you prefer smaller and lighter ...
Is a separate phono pre really necessary?
I've had a few preamps with a built-in phono: Rogue Magnum 99, BAT VK-30, Plinius MP16-P, and Audible Illusions M3B. All those built-in phonos were just OK, but not comparable to Allnic H1202 and Magi phonomenal in my system, Magi is actually be...
6922 Tube Question
6np1 (6np1-ev) might worth a try even though it is not an exact match to 6922 or 6DJ8. My phono preamp comes with 6np1 Russian tubes, but the designer of the preamp also suggests to use 6922 or 6DJ8 tubes. Actually, I prefer 6np1-ev tubes over bug...

audible illusions vs supratek, vs holoaudio vs backert
People heard enough about horrible service from AI, but still many show interests of owning it. Why? I also heard about the service, but jumped on a 10 years old AI M3B at $2000, and that was one of my best audio purchases I had for a long time. ...
When a speaker does not sound right, how do you know which part is wrong?
Thanks for excellent ideas.
Audible Illusions M3B question
My speaker is 6ohm 87dB, and on my MB3, the volume control always stays at past 10 o’clock. Most of times I set it to between 11 and 1 o’clock. So the high gain is not a problem for me. I wonder whether C2500 would be a lateral move regarding the...
