High-end CDP/DAC into Pre-pro
Thanks guys! That's pretty much what I figured: I'm at the mercy of the pre-pro's DAC one way or the other. As it turns out, I'm using a Bryston SP2, so I'm in pretty good shape to begin with.
High-end CDP/DAC into Pre-pro
Thanks 4est.If the pre-pro's DAC is a QUALITY 5, why do you think it would output a 3/4?
DEADHEADS...TOP 5 SHOWS.....
Qdrome,You're thinking of the '82 US Festival. I know because I was there, pressed right up against the boards in front of the Dead as they came on in the morning. Awesome show! I also know that the event was extensively recorded because there wer...
Arcam vs. B&K
If you mean $20,000.00, you can have several of each. If you mean $2,000.00, the B&K is out of your price range, with the five-channel starting at over three grand.

For a review of the Cronus check out positive-feedback.com, issue #21. This ought to give you some food for thought.
decent sounding mini system
Try the Arcam Solo system. Audiophile-grade sound in an all-in-one package.
Good DAC for multiple sources
Try looking into Cambridge Audio's 740C and 840C CD players, which not only have good DACs but also have inputs for TWO different digital sources with easy switching between them. Pretty cool.Good luck,Charlie
Need suggestions for a good XM ready receiver
I would second the Polk suggestion. This is an excellent tuner, and offers a few features you might like: video output which allows you to see info. on your TV (I send mine throughout the house in a whole-house B&K system, and find myself refl...
Most common subwoofer input?
For an A/V receiver: yes, just the one RCA connection. For a "stereo amp" you'd have to be more specific. For example, if it has a set of variable pre-outs you could run two RCAs, or coax cables, to the left/right imput of your sub. Or you could ru...
Most common subwoofer input?
Agree with the above, however if you have a very long run to the sub or want more placement flexibility (eg/not near a 120 outlet) you might want to consider a system such as Velodyne's Subcontractor series, where the sub is separated into its two...
Any good cdp with digital inputs
Cambridge Audio's 840C has two sets of digital inputs, with Anagram Technologies 24 bit/384kHz DACs.
Music out there with good bass
A couple of jazz Cds:--Alan Broadbent/"'Round Midnight": Brian Bromberg's acoustic bass is a little heavy-handed at times, but is still fun to listen to.--Kyle Eastwood/"Paris Blue": This is an all-around excellent CD (yes, from Clint's son), and ...
A/D/A Conversion in Receivers?
Pabelson,Thanks for the response. According to NAD, the DACs, filters, etc. in the C542 are better than in the receiver--plus, I've had experience with how good the C542 can sound in a dedicated 2-ch system. As for NAD's response, the only reason ...
