Is it all worth it?
Hello, it’s like owning an antique Ferrari. It will get you to and from work just fine, but costs you five times as much as your Honda does to do it. The Ferrari comes out when you want to drive instead of needing to drive. Later at night I stream...
These seem a bit pricey $$$
Hello,They are a little unusual. They have a side firing sub and only play down to 30Hz at -3db. Also the efficiency is 87.6. They handle up-to 200W including the sub. Last but not least they are in a rectangle or square box. If you charge that mu...
How can I limit the volume on integrated amp
Just by a nice sounding Bluetooth speaker or clock radio like Sandals does and put it in each of the rooms. I use to be a property owner. The only people who care about your property is you and yours regardless of age or income. Lock the nice syst...
Emotiva not so good
Hello,As far as the amps go they are good for HT. I would say for surrounds and center channel only. If you use your HT setup for music I would not use for your mains. The surround processors cost way to much because they are linear and differenti...
Beware of NAD M3 Fire Hazard
Hello, I agree with contacting NAD as long as they cover the shipping. It looks like a swap of all the boards is the only real fix. If I owned NAD, I would give you credit for a new one and figure out what failed on the old one. Hopefully, the OP ...
What should I choose??
I do remember listening to a classe setup with the 802s. It was a really good match.
What should I choose??
Hello, one issue is your amp is getting old. Most people in here knows that 20 years is the approximate life of an amp due to the caps. An option is new caps. Maybe even upgrading them to something better. Way cheaper and better sound. I agree abo...
Power Amplifier Longevity
One last thing Brian339. You mentioned you might get height speaker for Atmos later. If you do not want to add the expense for the Atmos amps right now you can upgrade and add them to the Emotiva box later, You do have to send it back for them to ...
Power Amplifier Longevity
Now for the two channel. Now or later you would get a two channel preamp with home theater bypass. On the lower end you can go with an Emotiva USP - 1 ver 2 for $1100 retail and $750 eBay. Or on the high end Hegel for $4000. I have the Emotiva. I ...
Power Amplifier Longevity
Hello,I can tell you from experience that having a really nice multichannel amp for home theater is awesome, but also very expensive. It sounds like you are trying to get two channel music an surround out of the same system. Marantz is my favorite...
Ok guys
I believe it depends on how solid your turntable is in correlation to how much it will affect the sound.  When you have the cover up it has to gather more sound waves like a sail on a boat. The best would be the kind that does not touch the turnta...
Bose 901
I wonder how much Bose would sell the 901s for today? Imagine the cost of the amp you need to drive them. Anyone tried to drive them with class D yet?
I'm interested in hearing what "the best" systems sound like, where to go?
I love Mike’s system. I think it is awesome how he thinks out of the box. I can only Imagine how clean his main system sounds!
I'm interested in hearing what "the best" systems sound like, where to go?
I think a great idea would be Audiogon has a contest of its members. The reviewer can decide the cost and category of your system. They come out listen, and rate your system. The prizes can be credit from sponsors like Murrow Audio, Audioquest, No...
High Sensitivity Speakers
I heard that Maggie’s get thirsty for power. Make sure your amp is adequate. If it is you might really like them. You will need a sub or two. If your speakers are able to be bi-amped, maybe use your old speakers for the low end and the Maggie’s fo...
