Ditch HT? Upgrade help please... I have limited technical knowledge, but I don't believe you can feed a DTS signal to a DAC (or at least most DACs that I know of) and get sound. But you can always feed it analog signals of course. All I can say is that if you do love/like/enjoy HT...
Jazz Boxsets Well the good news is that trumpets and saxophones are a very common combinations. Besides box sets, Anything with Miles, Cannonball, and Coltrane together (or just two of them) is worth listening to. Perhaps some Charlie Parker with Dizzy as well...
Dynamics and Microdynamics I have heard the 390, 380, and transparent cables together, the Classe (flagship monoblocks and CAM350) and B&W together, but not the Wilson Audio and VTL. I believe what you heard was mainly the effects of the amp. Classe amps tend not to be ...
Jazz Boxsets I second the Verve boxsets. They tend to be of good quality with lots of songs. It might also be a good idea to take a guess on what you like as well. Do you like singers? Saxophone players? Trumpet players? Do you like ballads? Blues? Up tempo st...
Tell me about your Jena Labs Symphonys In english class I learned not to start off a sentence or paragraph the same way consecutively. With that said, I'm using symphony interconnects and fugue digital cable. I am still waiting to pick up their speaker cables. From what I've been told ...
Comparing sound of Tenor 150 HPs vs. Lamm M1.2 Tim, knowing Mike, if there was a $100,000 CDP that consistently produces sound that is in every way or even most ways better than the majority of his records played on his Sirius III table, do you think he would at least entertain the thought of ...
Multichannel amps that can drive low impedances? Well I know the Bryston 7B can be wired for 3ohms and below. Not so sure about their other amps especially their 3ch and 5ch amps. Contact Bryston and they should be able to tell you whether it'll work.
Large sweetspot I would say Kharma but that might be out of your price range.I would look into Sonus Faber's line of speakers. They are generally designed to project sound upwards and so they should fill your room with sound. 9' ceilings should be perfect for the...
Comparing sound of Tenor 150 HPs vs. Lamm M1.2 Brian. We sure could use more dealers like you here locally. Over where I live, there is only one dealer that allows me to take equipment home to try out on my system and they usually look and question me critically whenever I return something. I ...
Comparing sound of Tenor 150 HPs vs. Lamm M1.2 Brian, I have read your comments about the need to audition equipment and I want to offer you an alternative viewpoint, or at least a viewpoint of a consumer that you might not have experience with, which might help you better understand the viewp...
ultimate final word 3 on best passive preamp i welcome criticism if it's constructive but to those snobs who can only afford kharmas bless your little soulExcuse me? In your other rants...err... threads you talked about this being a learning place and that one shouldn't be defensive. Judging...
Choosing cables for Passive applications? Another thing is that plagues passives is improper system matching. This, and or long cable lengths can result in the lost of dynamics and a muddied/softened representation. Besides Nordost, there are many cables that will work well in a passive s...
Speakers using ceramic drivers....differences? I forgot to add all this is just my thinking derived from my general observations from listening to drivers of different materials. I just get the feeling that ceramic bass drivers will reproduce some bass instruments better while the Nomex-Kevlar...
Choosing cables for Passive applications? I think a better cable (in your system) is a better cable rather than a cable having lower capacitance etc. being better. Maybe I just don't understand or care much about the technical aspects of cables and what makes one cable better than the oth...
Speakers using ceramic drivers....differences? Interesting thread and very informational. I hope Albert can keep us up to date on his findings. The Martin Designs have caught my attention for a while now and very much wish to read more about it. Of course, being an amateur saxophone player, the... |
