SSP as 2-Channel Preamp With Sub??? If you purchase a Theta Casablanca you may not want to use your DAC anymore. The CB is known as one of the best, or the best, SSP for two channel audio as well. I would love to hear how a CB compares to W4S DAC if you get a CB. I am considering a ...
SSP as 2-Channel Preamp With Sub??? If your SSP has balanced and unbalanced outs you could use one set for the sub. That would be the only thing I would know that might work.
Good Preamp for Emerald Physics 2.3 Thanks Cdente. I do need to add a tube preamp or definitely something warmer upstream. I am considering the Wyred 4 Sound DAC-2, however it is ss. I am also considering a Peachtree Nova. I have heard the DAC-2 will best a modified Nova that is mor...
Good Preamp for Emerald Physics 2.3 Thanks Bdhgon. I actually am old school and still use a 400 disc changer for music. I think I would prefer something a tad warmer than my B&K Ref 70 for music. But, if the signal is converted from analog->digital->analog in the Behringer...
Personal speaker evolution I started in junior high with some Bose bookshelf speakers, KLH with passive sub, first fullrange ($80 still compares with some $1000 fullrange, Klipsch Synergy Klipsch Reference 7's (modified) $1100 new, then to another class of speakersDALI HELI...

$4000 to Spend on Amp, Preamp and USB DAC I would recommend a Gemstone Blue Diamond Amp (conspicuously similar to SimAudio, but less expensive). I think the Peachtree Audio Nova is a great Preamp/DAC. I am in no way an expert, but these products have had great reviews and I have personall...
Zu Essence vs. any Emerald Physics CS series I had the essence for a while and they are good speakers. However, they are not in the same league as the Emerald Physics CS 2.3. The CS 2.3 have better bass and imaging as well as very comparable tonal quality.
Avalon Avatar vs. Avalon Eclipse I don't have an Avalon dealer in the Las Vegas valley either so I cannot go to a dealer. I am using a modified Genesis 928 sub with my Avatars. It is a closed sub that seems to work real well with the Avatars. I really am not sure how much improve...
Zu Essence vs. any Emerald Physics CS series Thanks for all the input. I figured I would keep the Avatars. I am alright letting go of the Dalis. I haven't heard the Emerald Physics. I read that the CS-2.3 is a big improvement over the CS-2. It is interesting that the reviews for the CS-2 wer...
Zu Essence vs. any Emerald Physics CS series I am replacing either some Dali Helicon 800 MK Is or some Avalon Acoustics Avatars. I like the soundstage better in the Avalons, but, this was their lowest model at time of manufacture and is lacking in bass quite dramatically. I am running a Gene...
Anyone tried a different tube in Peachtree Nova? There is a button on the remote that will turn the bypass on and off. When the tube is being bypassed, a blue light will come on behind the tube. It is mentioned in the manual. I don't think it was possible on the Decco.
Killing BluRay, new Oppo BR 83 Don't forget to take into account the amount of unused space on each Blu-Ray disc. Blu-Ray has the potential to get much better than it currently is. I also agree that the size of screen one is viewing movies on will determine if they want to purc...
How close was your starting budget to the final bu I have spent about $9K, but have over $25K worth of equipment. I still have plenty of equipment I haven't auditioned as well. I guess this hobby can become expensive well before we realize what we have spent. Then the thoughts of what we would lik...
The new B&k avr707 or Arcams av600 I have the Ref 70 pre/pro and have been very impressed with it. The sonics are great for a pre/pro that can be had new under $3k. When changing TV stations from HD to standard and back there sometimes is a few second delay before the picture retur... |
