I don't want to beat a dead horse but I'm bugged. Again I believe that you and I simply have different taste and preferences as to what sounds right. Not unexpected in the realm of High End audio so neither you nor I can be declared right or wrong, just different. @charles1dad I do not have...
I don't want to beat a dead horse but I'm bugged. I'd say the objectivists have a tall task in front of them. It is even worse than ^that^, as the recordings have been coloured in a rainbow fashion by the recording engineers. If we use the term “high fidelity”, then at least we can say that w...
I don't want to beat a dead horse but I'm bugged. Show me just one audio electronic manufacturer that doesn't use aftermarket cables to demo their gear. Ok - let’s take the Benchmark ABH2. On the back we find a pair of Neutrik SpeakOn connectors, like we find on many other pro audio pieces… a...
I don't want to beat a dead horse but I'm bugged. @holmz I don’t know who these "upper shelf designers" of amplifiers are that you’re referencing Well @atmasphere himself opined in the thread, and you quoted him. There is also the Purifi gear that a lot of manufacturers are using, and a few...
Favorite religious song I don’t "believe" in religion. @falconquest Hence; you might appreciate my earlier post: One of the most religious Australian sings: https://youtu.be/ALQ_J-_cnpM This is better:
Upgrade from clearaudio maestro mm to $2-3k mc cart? I was very much considering that Moon 310 and also the Southerland Little Loco. (That later one is only able to do LOMC.) So some of this becomes a bit of a double whammy as you cannot uprgrade the phonostage and then the cart (e.g. Lil Loco).
I don't want to beat a dead horse but I'm bugged. If we reach a point where sound quality can be accurately predicted by measurement I’d have zero resistance or issue with it. My point is acknowledging we are not remotely close to doing that now. @charles1dad I would tend to believe amplifie...
Fear Inoculum in Vinyl I got it as a friend is a tool fan. Sound pretty good on vinyl to me. (Better than in his car on an iPod.)
How to choose a cartridge? I don't know if any particular measurement says anything about how a cartridge might sound, much less whether one will like that sound. I think it was Lederman who said that the channel separation is a general sign of manufacturing quality. (...
Speakers: Anything really new under the sun? Allot of great comments here and many positive reviews out there on the OP’s current speakers. Jaybird, installing active crossovers in your current speakers may be a very rewarding project. I have 3-way, 8-ohm cabinets with very stiff cones...
How to choose a cartridge? No substitute for listening. But I have to say I have bought all my carts 'blind'. I love the mix of man-spraining with honesty, and I totally agree. (so it brought quite the smile to my face) But, alas, I am generally sequestered in the mid...
How to choose a cartridge? I have not heard the Audio Technica cartridge you are considering, but I have heard the top of the line ART 1000 and it is terrific and not as pricey as other top end cartridges; it makes me wonder if some of their other cartridges are also reaso...
How to choose a cartridge? I know that you like measurements as you mentioned, well with cartridges that almost does not works to make cartridge decisions. Yeah… of all the measurements, channel separation is the one that likely has the most bearing on things. …L...
How to choose a cartridge? Channel separation and stylus shape, and cantilever material are all good.
How to choose a cartridge? I think its important to get a cartridge that works well with the tone arm it will be mounted to. What are people using with that arm?? This is a good place to start. I just got a new (used) arm which is adjustable from ~11.5 to 19 grams of equ... |
