Great speaker sounds terrible in my room?
If they were from a store sale, call the store. Or return them. If it was a private sale, then offer the fellow, or woman, a dinner (or something) to help you set them up. (If they did it once, then there is proof that it worked for them.)
Synergistic Orange and purple fuses popping
I blew a purple Saturday and am bummed. The system was off and it had to be static electricity. And how would we know that? Unless it is an X-Files episode,  we do not have ball-lightening or static at 1A ratings.   SO I ordered another at 2...
Bought powerful/expensive Amp+Speakers but plan to use an old preamp , am I crazy?
God to God I pray you are right, or send telegram, or cable, to Odin.   so 100% “go Nad”.
Question about Bi-Wiring
ghd Prentice then you must have a hearing problem buddy because bi-wiring  a speaker that is designed to be bi-wired you can hear the difference no problem, but some speakers have four binding posts but they're not properly designed for biwiring ...

… hilarious lines from Abbot and Costello …. Tony and Peter?
What makes the biggest difference in sound quality?
I have heard this from almost all hi-fi equipment dealers that speakers make the most of the difference, spend 75% on speakers etc.. Only one from Overture, DE said it is 50% speakers and 50% equipment that I agree. 75% Sound like a good number...
Question about Bi-Wiring
As a result of bi-wiring, you just add lengths of wires, and therefore resistance. Technically ^that^ is not correct. The longer wire effectively would be double the size (area) of the same wire with a jumper, and lower resistance a touch. But...

collateral damage from the tubebuffer ‘boner’ incident I see they just decided to napalm everything in the zone.. I must have the maturity of a 13 tear old, because I find his posts wildly entertaining.
$100K system build - % breakdown of spend
$50k to get the room 'right'. $50k for the gear I guess for a new house that works. But a divorce can be costly, so sometimes the room just “has to do”. Maybe that is why I like speakers with a narrower directivity?

Well yet another post was removed… for a reason that God (Thor or Odin) only knows.   Hi holmz Your Post was removed by a moderator 2022-02-05 07:34:43 UTC Well Odin traded one of his eyes for wisdom. Lucky it was not an ear? Content ma...
Vandersteen Sub woofers v Rythmik Subs
I have heard of the rythmic method before. Maybe it was in one of @tubebuffer  posts? I have an older Vandy 2<something> subwoofer, and it seems to work fine.
Experiencing speaker imbalance, while amp headphone output is fine. Any ideas?
Swap the speaker cables left to right. At the amp.
$100K system build - % breakdown of spend
does the following ballpark seem reasonable? If you’d bump something up, what would you bump down? I have an older modest system. On the TT side I could easily spend a lot more than the 10k. But one can also spend less. I know could spend that...
Processor and amp or AVR?
If the open floor plan is on a slab, then I suppose that the three channel makes sense. Our house now has a crawl space under the room, so I went with a Lyngdorf as I haven’t had a HT set up, and the XLRs allow one to run the signals to amps clos...
Question about Bi-Wiring
Well @thyname Michael Jackson was wearing masks before it became fashionable. So there is something there. @pesky_wabbit yeah supply chain is probably it. Luckily I was able to use the lamp cord as the fat 4’ AQ cables that connect to the monobl...
