Speaker that has a resonant cabinet like guitar I own the Onkyo Takamine speakers. They are marvelous for their size. Using just a 4" woofer they will not provide very much bass; however, the midrange and treble are excellent. You'd be surprised how they can fill a medium-sized room with music....
Any experience with SP Technology Timepiece spkrs? FlrnlambWhen thinking of monitors I think firstly of ATC then the others including Genelec, Dynaudio professional, Mackie, etc. These speaker are designed, especially the ATC's, to deliver the sound as it was recorded for near-field monitoring. Any experience with SP Technology Timepiece spkrs? I've heard them a few times. These speakers are first and foremost monitors; meaning they provide an unvarnished portrait of the recording. If you enjoy that type of sound, the SP's may be your cup of tea. Jim
Anyone familiar with Hegeman/Morrison speakers I believe the biggest model, the 23's are around $6K. I heard them once at a shop in North Carolina. The sound stage is wide and deep but the tone and accuracy left me nonplussed about the sound.
Heil AMT's - anybody have any experience ? I think you will find the more modern implementations of the Heil driver by firms such as Oskar, Mark and Daniel, Adam, etc, are superior to what ESS did back in the 70's. I'm a fan of Oskar loudspeakers. Jim

Blue Ridge Sound Engineering Speakers ??? I'd suggest 6moons and/or positivefeedback. Both are softcopy review mags. Jim
Best speakers for near rear wall placement? You might consider the monitors designed by George Short, the kitty kat revelatorhttp://www.northacoustics.com/Jim
Best Powered Monitors IMHO the best powered monitors are ATC. Just remember studio monitors are designed to give the listener a clear window into the recording. There should be very little or no coloration. Many find studio monitors a little flat and unemotional soundi...
Speaker cone material pro's and con's Here's an interesting response by Mithat Konar, designer of the Biro L/1.http://www.birotechnology.com/FAQ/index.html Jim
Monitors Suggestions for my setup My suggestion is also the Green Mountain Europa. It's a very musical speaker and not fussy about amps and cables. The Rothschilde's sound best with tubes and esp. SETs. Jim
integrated as a preamp Send an e-mail to Cairn. I've received excellent post-sales support from them. Jim
