Check out "The Poll Winners" and their second effort "The Poll Winners ride again". The trio is Ray Brown on bass, Shelley Manne on drums and Bernie Kessell on guitar. Each won two or more Polls in 1956 and 1957 at there respective instruments, th...
What are some favorite NOS 12AX7s for phono?
Amperex 12AX7s. I am on the road now but have some unused ones, I think that I purchased from Kevin Hayes at VAC when I owned his Phi Beta 2.0 Pre amp. I sold the equipemnt but kept the tubes; they are valuable. Brand new. Don't know what they are...
SACD player
If you can buy a used Krell SACD MkIII you will get killer sound, great bass and a huge sound stage and without the transport issues of the earlier models. I bought an Esoteric X-03SE to replace mine thinking it would be far superior but the Krell...
Review: Harmonic Precision Caravelle Speaker
This is great news for Robert! This speaker never received the chance to impress the masses and achieve the recognition and acceptance it deserves! The speaker is so much better than other monitors 3x's the price and with the best stand design eve...

What is a better speaker than Totem? for = $$$
I listened to the Nola Contender at CES and was very impressed by it's sound/dollar ratio. An excellent speaker at a real world price.

I use the teflon version and have been extremely pleased with the sound but started with the unit you are referring to; the standard 15amp version. The standard 15amp version doesn't limit current and the sound is very close to the teflon version....
How do Dunlavys compared to new stuff?
I have never owned Dunlavy but have listened to the IV's at a friend's house whose system consists of top McIntosh pre-amp; 1201 mono blocks, top Mac CDP; Boulder's top phono pre amp, Continuum's Caliburn turntable, Cobra arm and Dynevector top en...
Pre Amp with top class phono stage?

Wilson audio Maxx2, i am thinking of getting a
Your room is small for Maxx's. I have them in a room a little wider than yours, a foot longer and with 10 foot ceiling. Even in my room I wonder if a Sasha may have been a better choice. In my old home I had Maxx 1's in a 23 foot long room and the...
Are the Bryston 4B SST good with the Mag 3.6
I listened to the new Magnepan 3.7 with the top of the line pre (26?) and the 28SST2 at the T.H.E. Show last weekend in Las Vegas and was floored at how good the new SST2 Bryston line sounds; most definitely the best they have done. Sound was tigh...
Review: Harmonic Precision Caravelle Speaker
Yes, I still think the Caravelle is one of the best monitors for the money and listen to them often at a friend's house. I am in Vegas as I write and listened to many monitors at T.H.E. and CES and I didn't hear anything in the $6k price range tha...
Are All Mullards Created Equal?
There is a web site I stumbled upon that had some opinions on all sorts of different tubes. I purchased some Mullard 6922's from the site. I think it is Brent Jesse Recording or something like that. I don't know if he reviews this specific tube bu...
Krell preamp
I had the KSA-250 and remember it to be the KRC-HR; with HR being High Resolution. I owned the KRC-HR with my KSA-250. Krell greatly improved their preamps and I loved the KCT best.
