Audio Research LS2B mk2 cap ugrade I disagree with that. You should retain the same coupling cap values. Changing the value of the coupling caps to smaller values may cause the low frequency bandwidth to shift and possibly cause more phase shift below 10Hz. Keep the values the same...
Onix A-120MKII Gets hot fast. 6-8 inches is sufficient. Just not on top of each other....
Onix A-120MKII Gets hot fast. I would suggest you not place anything on top of the amp. Having anything digital placed on top of a piece of analogue equipment or vice verse is a really bad idea from a sonic perspective. Digital noise is pervasive. Put your digital equipment of...
Onix A-120MKII Gets hot fast. There could be many reasons why your amp is over heating. The idea of using a different pair of less demanding speakers is a good one. Without taking it in to have someone check the idling current of the output transistors, it's really just a gues...
Do Tube Amps go better with QUAD 2805's Speakers?? Electrostats don't require a lot of current to drive them, unlike dynamic speakers. They prefer voltage amplifiers like most tube amps. My guess is any good sounding 50-60W tube amp would work great. I fixed Quads for many years and most of the pr...
Onix A-120MKII Gets hot fast. Did it just start doing this? How old is the integrated amp? How old are your speakers?
Mcintosh C 220 pre amp tube life.... It's usually 10K hrs. however, sonically they might go down hill sooner than that. Since it happens so slowly, the only way to know for sure is to replace them and see if you hear an improvement in the sound.
audio research REF 150 I have some of those coupling caps in the 1 mfd range if anyone is interested. They are ahem...quite large. Let me know.
XLR to RCA Adapters A bad idea. Balanced amps require an inverting and a non-inverting signal. I know trying to do that with an ARC amp results in half the amp output and higher distortion because you are only driving the amp with a non-inverting signal. The invertin...
does anyone have experience with h/k citation 16a? Good amp. A bit better sounding than the Citation 12. Fast but not too articulate unless updated. Fast. A bit on the ugly looking side..imo..lol
Does anyone know someone who can modify Mesa Baron Farmersre. Truly sorry for your loss. Astrosytomas are mean SOB's! I will give you my 2 cents. Just listen to it for a while in triode mode. Don't just rush right out and have someone mod it. Everybody has their own idea of what it should sound li...
Audio Research VT 100 MK III vs. VS55 The only difference is some minor changes with circuit topology with the mkIII. The mkIII's front end is much easier to set up.
Does the ARC Ref5 sound better than Ref2/3 ? Ulf, Some manufacturers tend to overbuild the first model and then continue to try and improve, fine tune the next product. Sometimes that means using fewer parts. Sometimes it means changing parts. All of this takes a lot of time to do, i.e. man ...
Who has info on R&R caps in ARC D90B amp? I use a solder sucker. I don't find solder wick all that useful unless I'm repairing a CB trace.
Who has info on R&R caps in ARC D90B amp? Like I said above I would use the ARC part. I believe that amp also uses a zener diode string as part of a voltage regulator circuit. I would make sure the regulated voltage is correct once the caps have been replaced. If you are unfamiliar with r... |
