why do hi-end fuses keep blowing, while std don't?
The inrush rating may be higher with the standard fuse. I work in the HVAC/Controls and work with lots of fuses that have the same amperage rating but the inrush ratings vary a lot. If sold in the USA this data sheet must be available.
Has education expanded your listening tastes?
No, education I feel has had little to do with expanding my music tastes.I go on most Sundays to a place called Spin in Cambridge MA. People from all walks of life and different ages also go there. We play 2 selections each of whatever music we li...
Weakest Link? Your honest opinions.
I have not liked monster cables in years. I feel they are too polite especially on the upper midrange and high frequency ranges. Source equipment and cabling is very important to me and is where I would make changes first.
Meridian 588 CD Player
Go to the following location. There are posts about replacement transports for Meridian equipment.http://www.meridianunplugged.com
Static electricity....again
Amettparters,That is part of the problem with room humidifiers. The size is very important. If the door is left open the unit will not read the proper humidity level and just keep running, mold and mildew will follow if humidity levels remain to h...
Static electricity....again
If you have a forced air system add an AprilAire humidifier. They are completely automatic as long as the blower is on. I would recommend a Honeywell smart thermostat, they can be programmed to turn the fan on 15 minutes out of every hour to equal...
Why are CD's decling in quality?
After reading more about CD players I found I mistook 3 beam for 3 lasers.
Why are CD's decling in quality?
I maybe mistaken again but don't most HiEnd CD players use Computer ROM transports and not cheap consumer CD drives. Like Meridian at one time used Toshiba transports not an off the shelf cd drive for better performance and access time.
Why are CD's decling in quality?
I found this a while ago and is why I thought more than 1 laser pickup is use now.Multi-beam CD-ROM DrivesA new technological development, the multi-beam CD-ROM drive uses 7 laser beams instead of one to to produce 36X performance from a 6X rotati...
Why are CD's decling in quality?
So Geoffkait what do they use to read the data from CD's?
Why are CD's decling in quality?
I think in the beginning of the CD they used 1 laser. You could do most anything to the disc because only one laser was doing the tracking. Now I think they use multi lasers and lots of error correction because of it. I remember they said these th...
A/B Vinyl/Digital
MapmanJust a note. Funny thing happened I saved up and purchased the dCS Debussy instead of the Berkeley.
Manley Steelhead V2 as pre-amp
I tried the Steelhead V2 a while back and felt if I only needed one other input the Steelhead sounded about the best in its price range driving the speakers direct. I have more than 4 other devices, wanted theater pass through and feel the Nagra V...
JL Audio f112 or f113 sub?
I use 2 f113 subs in my stereo system and they do double duty with home theater. I felt the f113's were faster than the f112's for 2 channel but made little difference in home theater.
What's next after Clearaudio Concept ?
Since you like the Clearaudio sound, I would look at the Clearaudio Wood or the Innovation Wood that has an upgrade path. Both will accommodate more than one arm too.
