Audio Research D-90 You need a meter that does A/C & DC voltage. Most any will work ever radio shack one. I think you can go to ARC's web site and either download or request the manual.
Balance Amplifier to Subwoofer connections When I had my REL connected to my Moon W6 mono blocks I connected the ground wire to my preamp. If I tried to connect the ground to one of the amp it caused a hum.The wire from the REL only 3 wire. I now use an Aereal sub it has 4 wires for the hi...
Audio Research D-90 Did you rebias them. If you move tubes around you must rebias. I had 2 of these at one time, I took tubes out and put them beck in I still checked bias even if they went back in the same spot. The D90 sounds great but is very fussy. I biased mine ...
A/B Vinyl/Digital mapmanThere is a huge price differance between a Berkeley and the DCS system. I have listen to both and yes the DCS is better, but to me not worth the price differance. I want great sound and with a server system the Berkeley does that. It also ma...
A/B Vinyl/Digital I know I can add tube to the output but after hearing the Berkeley DAC I feel that is the way to go. It just sounds that good.
Dedicated Lines, Now what? Do you have cable, if you do try disconnecting it to see if the noise go's away. Also I had a hiss in my system after cleaning up my power cords. I put them too close to each other. I redid them and space them further apart and my hiss went away.
A/B Vinyl/Digital All the a/b testing I have done for myself and other always come out the same. Analog sounds warmer has more depth and a better sound stage. I am building a HiRes music server and will a/b that later.
Are you delighted at your present system? I am very happy with the analog part of my system. I am an analog person for the most part but have heard HiRes digital an feel it deserves a go round. So I am now working on the digital side of my system. I feel the digital side is okay but it ne...
Will a vpi hw-19 dustcover fit a scout? There are people on Audiogon that sell custom plexiglass covers of all sizes a shapes. They are less expencive than those from the manufactures. Type dust cover in the search bar and your all set. They are around 175.00.
Phono Preamp Recommendation Try the new Nagra BPS. It is in your price range. It is very compact, solid state, battery operated and very quiet. Loading is by moduals.I have thier VPS and it is better than the BPS but at more than twice the price. I listened to the BPS at Goo...
any mono folks out there? SlvrtravelJust a warning.I believe the needles profile for mono records made in the 50's and earlier is differant than the mono's made in the 60's and later.
any mono folks out there? A true mono cartridge does not send any vertical groove modulation information. This where most of the damage you here on stereo records happens. A stereo cartridge will send the vertical groove info to your preamp even it is in mono mode.
any mono folks out there? I have the Lyra Helikon Mono with A graham B44 Phantum on a Basis TT. IT sounds great.
Feedback in AV system I had this problem after redoing my cables. Had redo again because I had power wire too close to each other. I seperated them and it went away. After I went to find it and traced it back to the 2 differant conditioners I use 1 for analog and 1 for...
