separate system for just music?
I have 2 systems in one. My 2 channel preamp has cinima pass through. I listen to mostly vinyl and is why I went this way. I am thinking of seperating the 2 system because of grounding issues though. If I did not listen to vinyl then I would have ...
Flat Records?
Stickman451,We all wounder the same thing. It seems the more we spend the worse vinyl records become. They can not keep up quality with the demand being so high. Some also worry if vinyl is going to last. They put out as much product as they hope ...
Speaker audition: a novice’s journey
Neal1502,I have had Verity speakers for a while now and can tell you that I have had no problem making their speakers disappear. As a matter of fact at times I wonder how these smallish speaker could produce such a wide and deep sound stage.I woul...
Preamp w/ xlrs in the ht-bypass loop
My ARC Ref3 has balanced HT passthrough. It is unity gain but I think it sounds better going thruogh the Ref3 than a direct connection from my Meridian G68AXV.
So, What is the Verdict on the Beatles Box Sets?
Onhwy61,Don't you think there is a big differance between artists who were not even alive when recorded music was first introduced and a group who practicly set standards in how recordings are done. The Beatles and George Martin as well say that t...
Suggestions 4 surround processor w/newest formats.
I would look at the Meridian line. I have been very happy my G68 and with the new HD621 HDMI interface it is practically future proof.
xlr vs rca
If your amp and preamp is true balanced then go balanced as much as possible. If it is not then I think it is a waste of time and money.
I need help with my Equipment addiction
Macdadtexas,I seem to have spaced out on your question about what phono to go with your Ref3. Here is my response from another tread about phono preamps I have tried with my Ref3.I purchased the VPS. I had the Pass AlphaOno. I listened to the Stee...
So, What is the Verdict on the Beatles Box Sets?
Wireless200,The Beatles albums up to the white album were mixed with the Beatles in the room for mono only. They were not there for the stereo releases. Back in the day when they were release most people had mono sytems in their cars and at home o...
So, What is the Verdict on the Beatles Box Sets?
Unsound,It's not hard to make backups at all. Have your computer person get you a raid controler and set it up as raid 10. This will write to 2 seperate drives automaticly. If you loose one the file will be safe on the other drive. I also do not l...
So, What is the Verdict on the Beatles Box Sets?
I agree with Herman. The cost is so low that putting together large HD's with Raid controlers for auto backup is easy.
What's your favorite Turntable tweak?
I thought it was always a nickel. I use to take them off my older sisters record player when I was a wee lad.
What is the chain of importance in analog system ?
If I were to start over again. The entire chain would go like this. For analog only playback.A#1. MONEY.1. Turntable. 1a. Consider 2 arm table.2. Arm.2a. Additional arm to be mounted later. Stereo/mono play back.3. Phonostage.3a. With 2 inputs.4. ...
What's your favorite Turntable tweak?
I would think anything that you do in anyway that makes a system sound better is a tweek.
Whirring sound in Scoutmaster motor normal?
I don't have a scout but when I had a Vpi HW 19 Mk4 if I didn't align the motor to the platter correctly I would here the belt moving up and down on the platter. Bugged the sh.. out of me.
