Crossover mods and speaker efficiancy?
You bought $14,000 20.1's for less than $1,000?? Do they have anymore for sale at that price? That is an incredible deal.
Crossover mods and speaker efficiancy?
I think we are all on the same page here. I agree with Mitch that what he did was a gamble, and I'm glad he won the bet. I'm sure the manufacturers do have to look long and hard at the components in the crossover. If they used the quality of stuff...
Crossover mods and speaker efficiancy?
Sean, he never said he used "heavier gauge inductors and lower loss components," that is an assumption on your part. He used different components. There is no telling whether they were more or less anything with the limited information given. Perh...
Crossover mods and speaker efficiancy?
If the speakers are drawing more current (=using more power) to produce the same volume, then by definition they are less efficient. This could be because your mods changed the impedance of the crossover network and more current is bypassing the d...

Good Quality Distilled Water???
OK, so tap water has minerals, chemicals, and various other assorted nasty stuff. The big question is how big is the biggest particle of this stuff that you would find left behind on your record after cleaning it with a good machine, and if this p...
Good Quality Distilled Water???
I think the idea that you need distilled water is bunk. It is a result of the audiophile obsession to take everything to the extreme. What's in your tap water, rocks, grains of sand? No, various chemicals in the parts per million range. I seriously...
HELP - buzzing on Magnepan 3.6R; repair or not?
Are you sure it is the speaker? Perhaps the buzzing is your amp clipping on the loud bass notes.
Time alignment, important? long
"Sound wave certainly does not travel at the same speed for all frequencies, but music recording and reproduction often neglect this fact."Are you sure about that? I'm pretty sure sound wave speed is not frequency dependent. In time aligned speaker...
