Integrated for Dad
It doesn't matter. I went throught this with my father. Just buy a respectable integrated unit and hook it up. If he wants to make changes from there let him go for it. Give him something to do.

what's the www. for Digital Jitter?
need help - Cd players
AH! Njoe Tjoebs 4000 - I've had the unit for all of two weeks. It's going through a passive unit into a ss amp. Couldn't be happier. Go to www.audioreview.com and look at the shear volume of people who are just as happy with this unit.
Need recommendations on cables?
first let me say I do not emphasis cables as a priority. I'm sure their are others but the products from www.bettercables.com are priced right with good quality.I am in NO WAY affiliated with nor even know anyone affiliated with the company.
Classe compared to the Theta Dreadnaught
I'm going to put my two cents worth in... Take the one persons advice and buy the Yamaha. HT is more about sound reproduction than musical purity. I'm using a Yamaha to drive a Alon (I's) speaker setup with a Definitive Audio sub and a Marantz DVD...
Anyone tried a copy protected CD?
I read where if you take a magic marker and darken the edge of the disk... that such a simple action defeats the copy protection Sony has placed on the "copy protected" CD's.
Advice on DAC/upsampler
I've had a MSB Gold w/optional power supply for all of a week I'm pleased. But then anything would of been an improvement over my prior setup. If the unit "sucked" trust me, I'd say so.
The best CD Player for the money
I've been listening to my brand new AH! Njoe Tjoebs 4000 through brand new speakers for two days. Had to go straight into the amp because my preamp took a dump on Sunday. I've been using the AH!'s volume control to regulate the volume. Which means...
Have any of you ever modified your Vandersteen 2C?
Try calling WaveLength Audio Video in Garland, TX. Ted Paisley the owner might be able to help. Might not also.I do not know if he still sells Vandies but at one time he did. I bought some from him and then traded them in on Alons. Anyhow he's a n...
McIntosh MA 6500
I've been consider a McIntosh integrated amplifier. Don't have one nor have yet to audition one. With that said... according to the McIntosh website the 6900 has the ability to remove the tone controls from the signal path while the 6500 does not....
Anything wrong with Treshold "T" series??
The "new" Threshold Company out of Houston, TX. wants nothing to do with the older "T" series amps. I recently had a nice long phone conversation with Mr. Curtis (Thresholds current President) and either he doesn't know about Jon Soderberg or was ...
consensus on passive preamps?
You are correct. In truth the passive unit is nothing more than a potentiometer or simply a manual voltage regulator.
consensus on passive preamps?
Thanks alot for the thoughtful and enlightening responses. For the price I'm paying the experiment should be fun.The DAC which will be providing the output voltage can be tune up to provide 5v of output power. (Normal is 2.5v)
Which Of The Following CD Players Are The Warmest?
For less than 1k new take a look at the Ah! Njoe Tjoeb 4000. It's a highly massaged Marantz (now has some tubes) from some fellows in the Netherlands and has been well reviewed.
