transport for Chord DAC64
I run the DAC64 with a German Audionet Art V2 CD-transport, to good results. When the Audionet was away for a repair, however, I hooked up a ten-year-old T+A CD-player - and was amazed that the difference to the Audionet-supported combination was n...
Mac 402 vs 6900
I only compared the C200 to the C2200, the C42 and the preamp-section of my MA6500. The C200 was the best of all, in all regards. It sounded as tube-like natural as the C2200, but had more authority, more drive, better bass than the C2200 when it ...
Mac 402 vs 6900
I recently upgraded from a McIntosh MA6500 integrated, which sonically is close enough to a MA 6900, to a C200 preamp-MC402 amp-combination. Speakers are Shahinian Diapason, very power-hungry speakers if they are to show their best. For a couple o...
Madrigal is Closed
No insult meant to the majority of Audiogon-members I have come to respect - but after reading the story on the closing of Madrigal, employees showing up for work and being told they are all fired and shall collect their belongings and leave the b...
The Best kept Secret in Speaker Cables please?
LAT International. See the archives and audioreview.com I rewired my whole system with their IC-200 XLR-interconnect, IC-20 digital, and SS-1000 speaker cables, and the effect for comparetively littler money was excellent
Interconnect for Mcintosh MC352 and C42
Try LAT International IC-200, which is cheaper and at least as good as the cables you mentioned
Mc Intosh Need The good bad and ugly?? Should i
I compared the MC352 and the MC602. Taking into account the price difference of 2500 dollars, the way to go is the MC352. The MC602, as ljgj pointed out, is 70 kilos. On the other hand, the MC352 is already close to 50 kilos, so you will not be ab...
Did some of you ever tried the Siltech HF9 ???
I had the HF9, which is an excellent cable. The LAT International IC-20, however, is as good, but much cheaper. I ended up with keeping the LAT, and sold the Siltech. Only thing is, LAT cables have a very long burn-in.
Best bi-wire speaker cables under $1000
Take a look at LAT-International SS-1000 at their website (www.latinternational.com). They take a long burn-in, but my, did they transform my system. I second the most enthusiastic review you'll finf on audioreview.com
Advise Needed, Best speakers for approx $15,000
Take a look at Shahinian Diapason (www.shahinianacoustics.com), which sell for 12,000 $. I have just listened to a few of the speakers you mentioned (B&W, JM Lab), but I still like the Shahinian better. Fellow Audiogoner Holzhauer, who has lis...
Best Thread on Audiogon?
The best was "How to keep the cat from sleeping on my power amp"
spend more money on pre or power amp ?
My experience is that the preamp is much more important than the amp. I did a comparison between three McIntosh preamps - the C42, C2200, and the C200, and the preamp-part of my McIntosh integrated MA 6500, on the one side, and the power amp secti...
Any hi-end Aussie speakers or electronics?
Audio Physic is German.
Speaker Break In- my experience
This is a misunderstanding. I did not take the Diapasons to the carpenter because the woodwork was bad, but because I bought them used, and principally do not like the look of oak wood. Otherwise, the quality of the cabinets is first-rate. So are ...
Speaker Break In- my experience
Shahinian fans remember a bizarre Stereophile-review of the Diapasons that was published in May 1993. The speakers were trashed by both J. Gordon Holt and John Atkinson. The trashing was all the more astonishing as Holt in April 1990, after having...
