Tony, words of wisdom. I have always thought that it´s a miracle that the vinyl groove and the magnetic tape are the recorded music itself. The triumphant victory of post war technology indeed. The modern digital tries to make playback perfect but...

Richard, thanks for this GOLDMUND info. I once owned the Studio way back. And I wondered why there wasn´t pitch control for that expensive deck. This explains it quite well, pitch control wasn´t needed at all. The music that is playing defines the...
Direct drive vs belt vs rim vs idler arm
"Other than that device the only serious attempt to elimate the off center LP problems was Nakamichi through its 1000 TT model and latter on with the Nakamichi TT Dragon.I don't know how easy or hard is to the LP manufacturers to have their LPs wi...
Thorens TD-316?
Mediocre performer, I said farewell 25 years ago.Try a Japanese direct drive from the Golden Age the late 70´s/early 80´s, however avoid the cheapest models! Also worth trying a idler driven Lenco 75/78. Good luck !.
Cleaning new/sealed records?
I have cleaned also new/sealed records since I bought the Moth RCM/II nearly 6 years ago. Sometimes new records have residue of vinyl from the cutting/printing process.

Best Cartridge for my system, MC or MM ??
You can also consider an Audio-Technica AT-160ML or even AT170-ML/OCC, probably not cheap second hand but you don´t have to regret ; Also SHURE ML-140HE won´t be disappointing. Anyway, a high compliant & high out put voltage cartridge.

Richard, Unfortunately I don´t recall FM radio played a JT album in its entirety in this remote area LOL. But I do recall vividly as "Songs from the Wood" album was the only subject in one music lesson in high school in 1977. I felt huge respect f...

For Richard (a Caravan tune from early days ;) )"Ct0517 the TT under test was a Goldmund studio with a Syrinx PU3 arm and I think a Monster 2000 MC cartridge. I agree it was an astonishing finding which clearly demonstrated the effect of stylus dr...

Chris, We are children of the revolution, the swirling 1960´s and we "speak" the same language. We have certain respect to our past, and it´s music itself. The super groups we listened when we were kids will be our musical heritage till the end of...
