Cartridge Suggestion Requested AT ART9 nice but too thick. What a peculiar yet very interesting comment as it has been considered pretty much as perfect MC on various forums so far ! Save money and buy a vintage MM like SHURE ULTRA 400, AT-ML170/OCC, Acutex M320 STRIII (the bes...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? Chakster, when you see and hold that metal frame around the Karat Nova 13D you will understand. As for headshells´ resonances as such, I have no idea. A decent headshell does not resonate, right ?Actually I bought three reasonably priced MM carts ...
It's European invasion Albert Einstein foresaw gravitational waves a hundred years ago, actually he reinvented the whole physics. It has always been brave and fearless individuals who change the world, not ideologies no isms whatsoever. And they are here with us today. ...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? Raul, Now I see you wasn´t happy with the original headshell that comes with the cart. It´s actually an aluminium frame for the cart to adjust on certain arms and probably source of colorations or even distortions. I fully agree, it´s no good. My ...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? Interesting, Chakster. The great vendor, probably initially from Russian hills, no other than our (in)famous Victor Simakov had one for sale here at A´gon a few years back:https://www.google.fi/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&a...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? Ha-ha ! What a great thread this is, so much fun... and so much frustration. Like life itself, isn´t it.Chakster, your sense of humour is... dryer than an English "best buy" CD player´s sound quality :)Acman, how is your Ultra 400 doing today ?
Stylus force digital scales The very expensive Rega scale does its job nicely and quickly. It always tares itself before weighting. The weight pan is a little dish so the actual measurement level is very close to record´s surface. Highly recommended for all vinyl lovers. Man...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? Raul, again about your sold Dynavector Karat Nova 13D... was it really the large wooden body or was it a "weaker" sample. Additionally, how would you compare it against the Dynavector Karat 17D(s) ? The Karat carts are very special designs, I´m in...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? jerman, you hear what you hear but honestly you are the first one in this decade old thread, contributed by so many intelligent and experienced audiophiles with very interesting reviews, with nothing truly constructive not to mention uplifting to ...
LP's... Do they sound better now than 30 yrs ago? reubent, you have got a great taste. Yes, I know it has always sounded awesome (all those decades) but today w/ HQ system it sounds terrific :)
LP's... Do they sound better now than 30 yrs ago? Modern LPs including 180 gram heavy pressings sound a lot worse than vintage. Of course, there are a few exceptions and the quality of source material is essential, as ghosthouse pointed out. I have learnt my lesson and have stopped buying reissue...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? Raul, you sold your Dynavector Karat 13D sometime ago. Could you please explaint why ? I´d guess it had a distortion issue, was it the large wooden body ? I really would appreciate your explanation.
"Straight" talk Chakster, I know I´m right and I completely agree with A. J. Van Del Hul. Well, he is a specialist isn´t he. And he´s not the only expert with that opinion/experience in this complicated business. Most of my carts perform best with flat or/and a b...

"Straight" talk I adjust all my carts flat for the thickest records, and as most of my vinyls are thinner I´m running most of my carts a bit high (e.g. a greater VTA). All sound well balanced and I just forget different vinyls. Nowadays I don´t mess with VTF eith... |
