What improvements did you hear in going from entry level to high end Audio?
Amongst others, dynamics are important to me, and the upgrades I have bought over the years are getting me closer to life performances. As we all know, it is never difficult to tell the difference between life and reproduced sound, so my objective...
How good is your hearing ? And how do you know ?
@inna Yeah, I'm using Gryphon speakers, it's all about having the preferable equipment combination for your own ears. It's not (or certainly less) important what others think.
How good is your hearing ? And how do you know ?
@inna Unfortunately I have no experience with the FM Acoustics. Gryphon is great indeed, nevertheless, I'm now using the CH Precision M1. As stated before, both are very good amps, but my personal preference made me change from Gryphon to CHP. Sti...
How good is your hearing ? And how do you know ?
Don't worry too much, as mentioned, I can currently only hear up to about 12k, and even to hear that I will have to really concentrate. But I could clearly differentiate between my Gryphon Mephisto power amp and my CH Precision M1 amp. Both being ...
How good is your hearing ? And how do you know ?
Why do some believe that enjoying music starts with the ability to hear frequencies of 14k and up? My frequency hearing limit is currently around 12k, and I still love music as long as it sounds the way I think it should. I'm way over 60 years of ...
How do you move HEAVY speakers with sharp spikes without lifting?
Use ceramic tiles, tip the speaker over just enough to insert one tile underneath the two lifted spikes, repeat the procedure for the other two spikes, and the speaker can be moved on top of ceramic tiles to make the -fine- adjustments. After that...
Does hearing the best in high end audio make your opinions more valid?
For some reason it seems that owning equipment being more expensive than average is something bad. In general people are ready to judge, (misjudge??) and it seems that those owning such equipment must either be crazy or just plain stupid. Most peo...
How much acoustic room treatment
Very useful discussion here, thanks to all for the interesting information. I will soon move house, and will need to start from scratch, in addition, as my room will not be a dedicated playback room, I realize that there will be some compromises t...
Thoughts on the most difficult instruments for speakers to reproduce?
@vinylfan. Agreed, even with the best equipment, a poor recording won't sound good, however too often people blame the recording whilst it is the equipment not capable of reproducing what's on the recording. Not many speakers will be able to repro...
2C HiFi Epiphany - Worlds Best System?
in life its all about priorities. We should accept that certain people make it a high priority to enjoy music at the highest level. Others give priority to cars, yachts, houses, or spending time with the family. Ideally you can do all, however, as...
Thoughts on the most difficult instruments for speakers to reproduce?
Digital is not always bad, so with the proper set-up we can get quite acceptable quality, meaning a lot of instruments sound very acceptable. Of course, the rest of the system should support such elevated quality levels as well. Nevertheless, even...
Why are my woofers pumping?
Please note that woofer pumping is not only caused by the cartridge/arm. Some CD's cause pumping as well. Hopefully you have a "low-cut" option. Use it only when needed.
Does It have to be loud?
@geoffkait I fully agree with your statement "Furthermore, the distortion you hear as more power is applied might not (rpt not) be produced by the speakers per se as I have pointed out before - I.e., comb filter effects from room anomalies (pressu...
Does It have to be loud?
@shadorne You will find few if any speakers that Soundstage found capable of true high fidelity at 95 dB and above. We agree on that point. Absolutely, well said. Related to this discussion, purposely I had my system up to 98 dba last weekend, and...
Does It have to be loud?
@onhwy61 I agree, but make that "flat down to 35 Hz" @nonoise 100% true.Happy listening
