Cable upgrade
With tube gear, I found Nordost cables to be a good match when I listened to them on my dealer’s setups, as well as Cardas gear. And this is coming from someone who really hated the Nordost loom on trial at home on SS gear. However, these two real...
Gryphon Diablo 300 or Pass Labs Int-250 to Sonus faber Amati Tradition
@soix yes indeed, I tested both the Vitus Ri-101 and the Diablo 300 at home.I mainly listen to classical music and the Vitus just sounded muffled whenever the musical message became complex, like on an orchestral tutti or on a piano arpegiatto. Wi...
Gryphon Diablo 300 or Pass Labs Int-250 to Sonus faber Amati Tradition
I would be very interested in this thread, as I’m looking at both options without the possibility to demo the Pass. I also had Boulder 866 and Vitus Ri-101 in my radar, but they were way below my expectations compared to the Diablo 300. The issue...
Digital Cable Recommendations
As @christianb5s4 said, the DH Labs digital cables are ridiculously high performing for their price. I know their cables have not been the most hyped in recent years but big props to them. The value is just insane.
Best turntable for the buck
The Rega RP3 is a terrible turntable, I know that since I bought one 7-8 years ago. Tried a lot of cartrtidges from the Goldring 1042, Sumiko Blue Point Special Evo 2 and Dynavector 10x5, etc. It was so bad it almost made me quit analog for good. ...
The Mutech RM Kanda Hyabusa
thanks @pindac very interesting thread :)
The Mutech RM Kanda Hyabusa
@pindac I live in France but speak decent German, do you mind sharing the original link of the review? By the way I think your friend is spot on with his remarks on the Mutech cartridge.
The Mutech RM Kanda Hyabusa
Just discovered this cartridge during my vacation in Korea. Mounted on a Kuzma 4 Point, with Allnic SUT & phono stage it was just pure bliss… We were able to compare with the Dynavector DV1-t and a Koetsu Onix. The Mutech just sounded right, o...
hana sl or one of the AT-ART9?
@stone1 It's just the Japanese standard of presenting the same characteristic which is measured at a different frequency (100 Hz), instead of the standard unsed in the rest of the world (which is usually at 10 Hz). You just need to take these valu...
SME Spindle Oil - Where To Buy
PTFE/Teflon oil are excellent for this kind of applications, often better than silicon oil used by manufacturers. The Superlube PTFE oil comes in a handy pen format, for 5 bucks per 0.25oz.
hana sl or one of the AT-ART9?
@stone1 I only know the European prices, here the PP500 is at 2200€ vs. 1700€ for the AT ART-9XI/XA... You might wanna have a look on their new entry level they introduced last year, the PP200. It has rave reviews from reviewers and real-life peop...
hana sl or one of the AT-ART9?
I really like the Lyra cartridges, but the Delos that I tried is IMO a weak model in the line-up, especially when compared to other competitors in the same price range. The old AT ART-9 outperformed it in my setup when I had it for home trial. On...
hana sl or one of the AT-ART9?
I have both the Hana ML and the AT ART-9, on top of a Benz Reference S in my system. The Hana ML is the cartridge that I play the least with, I’m just keeping as a spare for when I will need to retip my other cartridges. If the Hana ML can’t come...
Why do folks spend more on electronics than on speakers?
My guess is that for many rooms, having more expensive speakers (often correlated with bigger boxes and deeper bass extension) is not yielding the same increase in performance as an increase in the quality of the electronics.  In Japan or Western...
What Class A is better? SUGDEN FPA-4 or PASS LABS XA-25
Sugden gear always bothered me due to the lack of air and the slightly veiled sound they produce. A good friend of mine runs the Saphire pre & power combo with a pair of B&W 802Ds. Heard the A21 amplifier in different iterations as well. N...
