Puritan 136 vs 156 for simple system
The Puritan 136 has surge protection too. if your AC has DC noise you’ll sense an improvement for sure. no regrets on my 2 Channel digital only system
Surge protector
One of the benefits of the PSM136 is  “…Massive 9,000 Amps Repetitive Rating, three-dimensional, non-sacrificial voltage surge protection…” All sources, pre/power amps, and DAC are on the Puritan… my subs, which are not in the front, each have o...
Wifi ethernet jack recommendation
6GHz will be much less crowded for a while, and turning off 2.4 (with only 3 non-overlapping channels) is a good idea.   6GHz and AX-E has MultiuserMIMO which will stay 'on' vs.running AX on 5GHz (non 'e') remember that 6GHz will go through fewer...
Looking for a simple but exquisite front end
@tomic601 @evanpress thank you for that. If anyone is: near enough to Washington DC  can prove you're not a psycho interested in hearing a 3 way shoot out I've gotten word from both dealers that I'll have access to those 3 devices in my ...

@mahler123 ah, the Michigan motto.  I don't follow college sports, so it was lost on me.
Looking for a simple but exquisite front end
@mahler123   ?    the point was to share my need for XLR as well, the buckeye purifi monoblocks I run are XLR only, so that my suggestions for his research would be compatible with his active speakers.

I’m in the market for a pre-amp/DAC (don’t need internal streamer, but fine if it doesn’t harm the unit or price) and there’s a nice crop of devices out now, some from new orgs (Ferum, new b2c, was an OEM only shop) some from longer standing brand...
Looking for the next level in imaging...
counterpoint incoming. context, I still own ML CLSes (factory repaneled) and some larger maggies are in storage awaiting vacation home setup.... so I enjoy planar/dipole. I've had good success with B&W and tekton monitors for imaging. But m...
Need a modern Class A monoblock, preferably half or compact chassis
while you weigh your Class-A options, get yourself a pair of these to hold you over... https://www.buckeyeamp.com/shop/amplifiers/purifi/1et7040sa/monoblock   I have their 3channel 400A Purifi and a pair of these 704 Purifi monoblocks.... price ...
Considering the New Tekton Design Encores? AND Owners Group - Experiences/Questions
Right now, from my BAT preamp, which has 4 outputs, 2 per channel: * XLR out go to the purifi/Buckeye amps * component/RCA out goes to the HSU subs, and enabled their onboard x-over to allow only below 30-35 hz to the sub. I like my system now,...

oh, about: "Did you notice any loss of planar type sound with fewer tweeters on the half Ulfbehrts?" Can't say, I've never heard the full Ulfbehtrs (or Moab or Encore) or anything with the 7+1+7 setup.  The monitors have the 6+1 ring, and I love ...

@jayctoy Thank you. My Impact Monitors were flat black (including the Center channel I kept) but the gloss gray on these towers is nicer. @brotw  1) room correction.  Yes, I ran REW pre and post the room treatments you see pictured.  My room is ...
Considering the New Tekton Design Encores? AND Owners Group - Experiences/Questions
@brotw I bought the Impact monitors (3 of them for L/C/R) and loved them... best midrange I’ve ever heard in my house (In this house I’ve had MartinLogan, Maggie 2.6, B&W’s) I placed the L+R on top of my 15" HSU sealed subs... as shown here:...
What was the first power cable that you noticed a difference in the sound?
@panzrwagn  right, I'm not saying it was apples to apples with the OP's question, but impressive a/b considering they likely weren't using zip-wire from Bestbuy  before the swap. When my system was more basic (Parasound pushing B&W 6xx, or QS...
What was the first power cable that you noticed a difference in the sound?
@panzrwagn  this video reports that this mastering studio gained 10dB of SnR with a wholesale (pre/post) swap of Shunyata products     First time I've seen a measurable figure shown...
