Nordost Frey vs Audience Au24e interconnect Mjmch2003, thanks a lot for your input. Pity that it is so hard to choose one or the other. Have you chosen yet? I'll try to put my hands on the AU24 IC's somehow and see for myself. Cheers.
Nordost Frey vs Audience Au24e interconnect Hmm, I realize it is a bit unfair to label the Frey's sound as bright. I upgraded from Red Dawn (the new revision I believe) and they communicate a lot of detail, dynamics and more controlled bass. However, they seem a bit bright, which can be due...
Nordost Frey vs Audience Au24e interconnect Thanks Mechan. Unfortunately, the Cable Co. would not be an alternative as I live in mexico unless I can program back to back trips to the US. I actually feel the Freys might be a little too bright for my taste. That's why I'm wondering about the ...
Transport ? - Mod a Sony 7700 or go another route You can find a used Proceed CDD for $800-900. That's what I'm using right now and gives excellent sound. I compared it against a Cal lab transport, a modded Music Hall CD25 and it beats them flat out.
B&W Signature 805 I've used my S805's first with an Arcam FMJ A32 and now with a McIntosh MA6900 integrated. Source is a Proceed CDD transport with a MF A324 DAC. Cables are Red Dawn ICs and Audioquest Granite double biwire and Illuminarions D-60 digital. They defi...
1st System - Help with cables I got discounted Audioquest Granite. They are quite neutral and sell relatively cheap at Audio Advisor. For interconnects, I used Nordost Blue heaven, very detailed but perhaps a bit on the bright side (used might be $100). I changed to Nordost Re...
mod my cdp or newer cd transport or ?? long I have a Proceed CDD connected to a MF A324 DAC and it is a very good combination. I tried the CDD against a modded Music Hall and a Cal Labs and it was much better (this was done with a EAD 9000 DAC). But yes, the CDM12 is very hard to find. Mine...
MF dac and reference players Dan,I use a Proceed CDD with my MF A324 and they go along very well. I had the chance of comparing this CDD transport against others (Cal labs, modded Music Hall and others) and it blew them (albeit we tested them with an EAD 9000 DAC). I use a Ki...
B&W N805 vs. Von Schweikert VR1 I second Prpixel. I moved from N805s to S805s and they definitely sound far more natural, balanced and have better bass. The improvement over the N805s is remarkable and definitely they are a serious contender when considering high end standmounts.
Audioquest is bright?? I run B&W's 805 with an Arcam A32 and use Audioquest Granite (previously Slate) and the sound was quite bright until I upgraded my ICs from Nordost Blue heaven to Red Dawn. Now I have the right balance. I don't think AQ is especially bright, m...
Musical Fidelitya DAC 3 24 vs Bel Canto DAC2 I read a review on Audio Ideas Guide where they compared the two and they came up to have a very similar sound so take your pick if you trust them. They rated them good but not in the league of Levinson dcss gear of course. I have the MF A324 and ...
low cost integrated amp for newbie I'll try to get a used or refurbished NAD C370 integrated. That is definitely better than your usual Sony, Harman, etc., receiver.
what's the best "mini monior" these days What about B&W Nautilus 805, Signature 805, Revel M20s? Dynaudio?I have the N805s and they are excellent in detail, imaging, integratio of mid highs.
Integrated amp for less than$2500,your suggestion For that price, Musical Fidelity, Plinius, Arcam. I have an Arcam A32 (100W) and it is great, lots of detail, subtle and able (I am driving a pair of B&W N805s). Although I am now thinking about upgrading and am torn between the Mcintosh MA690...
B&W N805's hump in the upper bass. What to expect? They seem fine to me apart from the limited bass response. In my room they definitely don't sound overly boomy. In fact they might need an accompanying sub. But, whatever bass they give it is detailed and tight. As mkfisher2000 says, do audition t... |
