How does one get off the merry-go-round?
you know what's worse.... when you do all this research, spend all this money only to realize you made a mistake. I have a Toshiba 57HX81 widescreen TV that is just too damn big for my room. It wouldn't be if I didn't have a nice sofa and chairs, ...
how many channels?
I read the responses above already, Avguygeorge, I had to read your a few times to figure out exactly what you were saying. So it seems that a few recommend 5-channel amps and two recommend a 2-channel. I guess it comes down to this. Will channels ...
foiled again...
let's see if I can more clearly illustrate my living room floor plan. The room is 17x18 with another room opening up that makes it about 17x30, except for a 5ft wide wall in the middle.Right now the TV is backed into a corner, but when I get new s...

I can audition them in my home. Problem is, is I have to move quite a bit due to my job and I don't know if always would be able to get them away from the wall. I could position them so that the back of the speaker was 18-22" from the wall and it ...
Is my dealer lying to me?
Its the RP-56. I think the RP-91 is supposed to have better audio. I know the RP-91 plays DVD-Audio. I got the RP-56 because I beleive it has less problems with video than the RP-91, however, depending on who you talk to you'll get different opini...
need amp advice
Now that you mention it, I'm a little worried about speaker placement. I move quite a bit with my job and who knows if I'll always be able to get them away from the wall enough. No way will my fiance' go for 4ft from the wall. One mistake I made w...
Is my dealer lying to me?
Well after everyones response and further thought on this matter. There is no reason to buy any CD player this week or this month. I don't plan to buy new speakers until febuary or so and I seriously doubt my current speakers could show the differ...
need amp advice
I can take all of it home for a few days and demo it, suppose I could do the same with the amp, and pre amp. Sounds like a good way to go.I know the Yamaha won't get everything out of those speakers, that's why I plan to upgrade it eventualy. But ...
need amp advice
You know what's odd about these forums... in this one everyone says the amp is the most important, in the Digital forum people say the source, in the speaker forum it's the speakers. I understand the logic behind all of the arguements, but in the ...

are you guys sure your not getting carried away? I'm talking about using a Cambridge D500SE source with Soliloquy 5.3 speakers. I know receivers are not exactly welcome in high-end audio, but the Yamaha is a pretty good receiver. There's not much ...
Is my dealer lying to me?
well, the D500SE is supposed to be considerably better than the D500. The dealer is going to come to my house with it and let me compare it to whatever else I can get my hands on then. Sounds reasonable.
How does one get off the merry-go-round?
I'm the type of person that HAS to have best I can find, usualy after exhaustive research, that I can possibly afford without hurting myself. It's a curse.I could go on forever, but to give an example... I wanted to sell my Mongoose bike for a Red...
advice before my head explodes...
I went to a small audio store today to listen to some Pro Ac and Soliloquy speakers. I liked the Soliloquy 5.3 ok, but it seemed to lack something, can't quite put my finger on it. For lack of a better term, I think the lower mids sounded a little...
