Turntable help Please Rrick: I would agree, depending on what you call mid-fi.I have certainly heard tunes coming out of a Planar2/3 and a bias/elise cart that blew away CD players of the era (Early 90's)Anyone with 20 records or more, that does not have a table owes t...
What about the Teres Turntable? Hmmm, Just sold T Monk Blue note collection. Still have all of Charlie Parker in a box set though :)I think you need a copy of "Amused To Death".(Even if you are a Jazz man)

Turntable help Please Pops, Do yourself a favor and toss the old table. One of the more recent AR's is a big improvement over that one.....I would suggest a Rega planar 2 used. Should be able to get it for around 200.00 with arm and there is very little to set up on it...
Ideas for a complete analog set up 2500- 3500 Zero set up issues brings one table to mind... A wall mounted Planar 3!Pretty too. I know where there is a rare wall mount for one of these (made by rega) my buddy might be willing to part with. But LP-12 horror stories are a bit "puffed" from what...
Want speakers for 700 but none sound good. Pranagas, The Regas are the ELAS or ELYAS?? Small t-lines.Very effective with little power behind them.Used, they are available for a song :>)Of course....if you wanted to go a bit higher on the budget, I strongly suggest a set of Pro-Ac respon...
How can I solve the harshness of my system's sound The Haflers I have owned are great for a commercial install because they were built very well and will last forever, where other preamps will cook. (I personally know of several ancient cheap Hafler pres running faithfully right now. 15 - 20 years...
How can I solve the harshness of my system's sound A simple and cheap fix you might want to try.Check out a used Adcom GFP-565.Great phono section, detailed yet mellow and under 200.00 used all over the place.
Want speakers for 700 but none sound good. I ask you: what kind of music do you like to listen to most often?Part of home theatre, or dedicated music room? How important is bass?placement? For all around speakers in this range BTW, I second the suggestion of a pair of small REGAS. They reall...
Ideas for a complete analog set up 2500- 3500 I cant be quiet about this. If you want good looks, go to circuit city and buy a goddamn sony with all the pretty lights. They even have remotes that let you set every band on the 400 band EQ that is built in. I understand that the model that stil...
Krell KSA-200 Should I Or Shouldnt I? This is not from personal experience, but my friend bought an ancient KSA-80 (I think) and made a boo-boo while changing speakers. This thing was at least 10 years old and all he had to pay was shipping. The repair and updates were done for free.Wh...
TIME TO REPLACE THE XTZ Hmmm, Just found my uncles old brass lantern with a nice heavy mount. Looks like it will hold 100 pounds if I want it to.Ever heard of a houseboat with an LP12 on it??? :>)
TIME TO REPLACE THE XTZ Traded the sloop for a small and quick bowrider 7 years ago. Kids were too young to appreciate it.Came into a semi home-made houseboat two years ago. When the youngest (14) gets to college age, my wife and I might just get another sailboat and drop...
TIME TO REPLACE THE XTZ Thanks for the advice. I am stuck with the arm I have. Replacing it would be WAY out of budget.Whatever cart I buy must work well with the grace. It is boating season........and I have two of the floating money pits.
