Pairing with Vienna Acoustics Hadyn Grand&Rel B3?
JRDG class D amps, and I believe also Bel Canto amps are very much grounded. In fact, users manuals require use of grounded power cords, lest you void the warranty. I have heard several times the JRDG 312 class D amp connected to a Rel subwoofer, ...
How are Rowland digital amps for Vandies
Thank you Delapole, here is a question for you, as you are experiencing 102 and C500 side by side in the same system. . . besides the obvious difference in power delivery, authority, etc. . . how does the 102 differ sonically from C500? In particu...
Pairing with Vienna Acoustics Hadyn Grand&Rel B3?
No, monos have no inherent high damping factor. They simply yield greater channel separation. The particular amps I am suggesting are also rather compact. The class D technology in these amps does though. If you prefer stereo amp configurations, t...
Pairing with Vienna Acoustics Hadyn Grand&Rel B3?
Danlalane, Vienna speakers like amps with a high damping factor, lest they can bee boomy. Try a pair of Bel Canto Ref 500 monos, or Jeff Rowland (JRDG) 201 monos.
Esoteric X-01 power cord
I have owned X-01 for over 3 years.. . first the original and then the Limited version. I have used a few different power cords on it with differing results, but not enormously so, probably because of the excellent quality of X-01's front end.Cord...
Reference DACS: An overall perspective
No Pubul57, your notion is a fossil from several years ago. For several years now, there has been no performance penalty on twin format players. fact is that some recent design upsample Redbook to DSD with extremely good results. . . e.g. TEAC X-0...
Levinson 383 or Rowland Continuum 500
I have heard that the break-in time for Continuum 500 is somewhat shorter than on most other class D amplifiers, possibly because of its slightly higher operating temperature. Never the less, I suggest to be generous with break-in time allocation,...
Previous ref 3 owners, what's in your system now
The place of ARC Ref 3 in my system has been taken by a Jeff Rowland Criterion linestage. Guido
High Current SS amps with input impedance = 200K
I once thought I was in love with ARC D400, at least on specs. . . until I heard it. . . and my ears started to 'bleed'. Am I ever glad I did not buy it without auditioning!G.
Is weight really mater?
Bjesien, what class D amps have you used? G.
Is weight really mater?
Very fair comment. . . that's why I stated earlier that perfectly legitimate but differing technology decisions lead to differing paths toward sonic excellence. . . and differing weights. I do confess that even I used to give the beefiness of a de...
High Current SS amps with input impedance = 200K
Several newer class D amps have imput impedances in the 40K Ohms, including my JRDG 312. . . but the highest may be the Bel canto Ref 1000 Mk.2. It has raised its input impedance to 200K Ohms from the previous version, which was a respectable 20K ...
Is anyone using a Bel Canto to Drive B&W 803n
Heard Bel Canto Evolution II driving B&W 803 several times at a friend of mine in Virginia. Very very delicious, resolving, musical, fast, and authoritative! I suspect that the newer Ref 1000 monoblock would work even better. I have used R1000...
Is weight really mater?
John, in general the answer is no, weight is not a factor in amplifier performance. High performance can be achieved in amplifiers that weigh a lot, and in amplifiers that weigh relatively little. In dividual designers make certain technological c...
difficulty finding CD player match for Magneplanar
Worth adding that the old 3As are not as efficient as the 3.6s. . . but I fear the argument may be for naught. G.
