Pure class A amplifiers = "slow" amplifiers?
Jim, this thread is very specifically discussing pure class A devices. There does not appear to be any reason to discuss Delta Sigma products if they operate in class A/B. And please watch out that claim of conductivity greater than Silver. . . ma...
Pure class A amplifiers = "slow" amplifiers?
Jim, once again, will Delta Sigma be shown at RMAF? I doubt that simple information such as SS/tube/switching technology, class of operation, input impedance, damping factor, etc . . . can be deemed proprietary. . . particularly in devices having ...

Thank you MRT, much appreciated. . . both Gilmore and your friend are likely real optimist on break in time. . . As posted elsewhere, I suggest that about 1,000 hrs are a must for ICEpower switching amps fore they truly sing. Jimmy, you will have ...
Pure class A amplifiers = "slow" amplifiers?
Thank you Jim, unfortunately 'greater than Silver' does not mean anything to me. I am glad the product also uses graphite powder to its advantage. Graphite is naturally abundant, inexpensive, and easy to work with. Any more hard info you can share...
Best high current high power $5k amp for MBL 121
High again Outlier, I have the impression that switching amps like NuForce, JRDG, Spectron, and likely many other class D amps take a very long time to break in and reach optimum performance. . . probably about 1,000 hours of making actual music. ...
Best high current high power $5k amp for MBL 121
Hi Outlier, I am extremely fond of the Spectron Mus 3 amp for its musicality, cleanliness of sound, and authority. In the same $5K range you may also want to have a good look at the Nuforce Reference 9 V2 SE monos which I also enjoy, although I ha...
New Rowland Criterion 2-chassis battery pre
Hi French_Fries, my immediate goal is to be able to listen to a Criterion live. . . and to compare it with the Capri, and hopefully with a Ref 3. Perhaps at RMAF I'll be able to do some a/b listening with Criterion and Capri. . . . should be fun! G.

Hi MRT, Raptor appears to be made by Gilmore, see:http://www.glacieraudio.com/new%20Glacier%20Audio%20Site/Products%20folder/Gilmore/Gilmore-amps.htmAt $5K it appears to be a direct competitor to the NuForce monos and the JRDG 501. May I ask what ...

Hi Jimmy3993. Glad the lively debate stirred your interest. Please let us know what you decide to listen to. . . and of course let us know your impressions. Guido
Pure class A amplifiers = "slow" amplifiers?
Thank you Jim. . . did not really find the info I was looking for about underlying technology, class of operation, single ended vs symmetrically balanced, damping factor. Interesting about the Kosmos conductor. . . more conductive than Silver? Wha...
Pure class A amplifiers = "slow" amplifiers?
Jim, is there an info page on Delta Sigma amps? And what type of amps are they? Tubes, SS, switching? Class A, A/B, D, T, other? Thanks G.
Lost in the loudspeaker wilderness...
Hi Aquabahn, if the Strausses did not meet your budget, a pair of Vienna Beethoven Grands might squeek through. On Ligeti, I met him at a lecture he offered at the Alla Piccola Scala theatre in 1976. I kept asking him about his composition techniq...
Lost in the loudspeaker wilderness...
Aquabahn, I am familiar with Xenakis and even more with Georgy Ligeti. . . . and in fact met Ligeti at the Teatro Alla Scala way back then. I also listen to large scale works as well as chamber music. . . when I was shopping for speakers I was see...

Hi Unsound, Krel are Class A SS amp. . . how would you characterize them? Aren't they caracterized to be relatively forward sounding? G.
Rowland JRDG 501 and Wilson Audio
Hi RGS, I remember not being fond of WP6s because of their tizziness. . . but have heard the newest WP8s driven by both Bat and CJ electronics and found them to sound very graceful instead. Have not heard them yet driven by any switching amplifica...
