Playing dual layer SACD/CD disc on Sony DVP9000 ES FYI:my player wouldn't even automatically attempt to calibrate the SACD layer. When I attempted to do SACD manually, I couldn't get it to work, either.THESE THINKS PLAYED FINE BEFORE A YEAR IN STORAGE?!?!frustrating, to say the least.
Tube 2nd system for 5k. SACD Player of your choice for $1500 or less.Rogue Tempest (not Tempest II- which would be fine, but maybe a bit more money) $1500 Used.JM Reynaud Trente Speakers. $1800 used.
KT88 or 6550 tubes for Rogue 90 amp? I have rolled in a Cary SLI-80, and also in my Rogue Tempest. You can actually use EL-34 tubes in the Tempest, however the auto bias will be a little hot for them, and they will not last as long, but they're a good deal cheaper than the big bottle...
Monitor Shootout FYII was a B&W 805 believer.I still have nothing bad to say about them.I found, however, that teh JM Reynaud Trente, for me, made beautuful music. I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone who will listen to me.
