Replacing Amp Caps
Those model numbers do not have a mounting stud. Going higher in capacitance by 50% should not be a problem and, as a plus, the higher voltage plus capacitance will result in a lower ESR.
Replacing Amp Caps
I was just ordering something on Mouser...Looked at 22mfd 2.5 inch diameter caps. The United Chemi-Cons are 105mm in length and should fit nicely. Also, they use 10/32 threads so your original screws may work.https://www.mouser.com/Passive-Compone...
Replacing Amp Caps
Should have looked at a picture of the amp under the hood... the ground bar between the negative/positive can possibly fit if the new caps are adjusted by rotating slightly. I would make paper templates of the top of the new cap using the dimensio...
Replacing Amp Caps
Always always DC voltage rating greater or equal to original. The screw terminal spacing must be exact. The physical dimensions can be different as long as it fits (don’t neglect top clearance to cover). The farad value can be 24mfd, which should ...
Audio tax write-off
You own a company and have an accountant. What is the point of asking on this forum? You know how the IRS bites people who deduct listed (business) property while using them for personal reasons? They ask to see your record books documenting how yo...
Downside to R2R Ladder DACs?
DAC designers have more than a passing knowledge about resistor load stability and incorporate end of life tolerances in their designs when choosing the initial or purchased tolerance. In other words, they listen and evaluate before they put it on...
ARC D200 internal wire Q
No. The primary into the transformer can be wired either way; any of the two wires can be the hot or the neutral. The only issue is that the mains fuse was useless all these years because the hot was the grounded conductor and the fuse saw zero vo...

Total bass suck out at 40hz
Is the test tone playing at 40hz or is it a dead track? Try another speaker. If the file is good, then check to see if your woofer is moving at 40 hz. This is why I always measure frequency decades one foot from each speaker before I measure at the...
Dynaco Stereo 120
The output transistors are wired to the capacitor positive, that white wire connected to the negative terminal of that (output) capacitor, then wrapped around the capacitor in series to the speaker terminal. The cap blocks dc and the wire is an in...

Siemens 20 amp breaker for dedicated lines
Why Siemens? I assume you have a Siemens or Murray panel. If not, use the breakers recommended for your panel. You do not need GFCI for a music room. You many need an arc fault breaker if required by local building codes, if you are doing new constr...
Leave tube amps always on?
The way I read it is his reasoning is based on environmental concerns and not the life of the tubes. I have had a Cat preamp for over 25 years and there is no difference in sound after 20 minutes of playing no matter how long it is left on. Based ...
Whats a good economical way to test the electricity on a circuit?
Oscilloscope for time domain, FFT analyzer for frequency domain, and LISN for what comes out of the power cord of equipment. They are not cheap but that's the only way to visually see/measure noise.
