VPI table isolation
There is so much B.S. talked about isolation that we seem to ignore common sense. All motors vibrate, the vibration is transmitted to what they sit on and in turn to what sits on that. Put 3 or 4 vibrapods under the motor, cost $20-$25.I GUARANTEE t...
Which component has the most importance?
If you want to get the most sound for your money pay more attention to posters like Johnk and less to posters like Stehno
Which component has the most importance?
The single most important step is to get speakers that work well in YOUR room. The size of YOUR room and where you can reasonably place those speakers in YOUR room dictate what speakers will work for you. Come up with a short list then try to list...

concrete slab vs/ wood floor - pros and cons
Is this a joke? If not this is really a no brainer. In other words you would have to have no brain to consider digging up a slab, putting in joists etc. because you like the sound you get in your living room! Get real!
Anyone using Mapleshade bases for Gallo Ref 3's?
RW,Mapleshade's claim is that they correct time alignment for STANDING listeners.I completely agree with the rest of your comments though. However it appears that Mapleshade are huge fans of the speakers and they use them as their reference speakers
High level MC or step up?
IMO you are going about this backwards. The arm/cartridge combo is the most important aspect of an analog setup.Find the cartridge (that you can afford) that works best with your arm and proceed acordingly.
Gallo Reference 3.1 with/without the subwoofer amp
Tubes on top,a good SS on the subs, a Velodyne SMS to tie them together ,it is the only way to go.Raises the price of the speakers by $1k to $2k but is worth the price, on the plus side you can get there in steps.Tony
