Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? Fleib,I have often wondered about the pricing at Jico. I did think the $144 price of the DT X1MK2 was rather high. That was until I heard it. It is because of this 'hearing it', that I decided to order the Z1 SAS. I have the Z1S body which is no d...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? Hello Banquo363If you still have your sample, look at the brass tube. If there is a tension wire, there will be a hole in approximately the center of its length that has been filled in as in the SAS or a tension adjustment screw as in the (or my) ...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? Hello Tom,Good to hear you are still around! (grin)I am quite familiar with Mr. Prichard. I have owned and still have several of his cartridges. The Sonus Demension 5, The ADC ZLM and the Astrion among others. It's all in the execution. Some of th...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? There are a few things I should add. 1) My previous post should have read 'loading is', not loading isn't. (a typo)2) Nandric's cantilever is a Beryllium with a Shibata tip.Mine also has the Shibata tip but it being a Jico provided item, I am not ...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? Hello Fleib. One of the phono stages that I have in use is a heavily modded Jasmine. One of the mods converted it to 100K. I wondered if the reason it (the JVC X1) sounded so good was because of it being a 100K load! But Nandric was running his at ...
Step up from AT150MLX on Technics 1200 Dsper,Cartridges do not go bad. It either works, or it doesn't. It is the stylus or its cantilevers suspension that wears out. Both get replaced when you install a new stylus replacement. There are no moving parts in a cartridge so there is nothin...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? Fleib,Forgot to mention. DC resistance: X1 470 Z1 510And both Shibata'sRegards,
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? Hi Fleib,I remember that SAS MM1. It sold out rather quickly. I have that very same stylus mounted in a Garrott Bros. P77 cartridge. No, not a transplant but a perfect fit!If what you speculate to as the JVC Z also being the SAS MM1 then I am goin...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? Hi Fleib,I have a ad page from JVC which describes the X-1 and the Z-1, both on the same ad page. Therefore they are quite similar. The Z-1 is the later model and has a slightly higher output. I hope this is due to the magnets, and not additional ...
Don't you just hate it when--- I have my Benz Micro RubyIII S with Axel right now. Also knocked if off the turntable stand. The Hardwood floors certainly didn't help when it hit!I feel your pain!Regards,
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? Lew,I am also surprised at your comment in regards to the Grace Ruby replacement by Sound Smith. Granted, there is quite a difference between the profiles of the two styli, and no doubt they are going to sound different. Maybe different, wasn't wh...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC? Lewm,Those flimsy plastic B&O ones are selling on fleabay for what you have stated SoundSmith is asking for their's. I would think that would make SoundSmith's a bargain!Regards,Don
Grace F9 question The original F9 Ruby had an elliptical stylus. The Sound Smith Ruby will have a line contact. I would think the SS would be a step up in performance. I have the SS Ruby cantilever/stylus installed on a ADC TRX II and have to admit, definitely was ...
Cartridge or cable upgrade I agree with Chayro,I would go with a mat first. I use the Firm Funk Acromat but Herbies is also an excellent choice. Lateral changes is not what you are looking for.
Super Cheap Placeholder Cartridge Sorry everyone. I though he had a Prestige, but I see now that he has the Platinum. Regards, |
