Tube Amp or Tube Pre Amp
I have all tube at this point so am openly biased.  The right *quality* of all tube amp system will take you to a sweet place.  But if I was to pick a tube pre to combine with a SS, I would still go with what I currently have:  New Audio Frontiers...
New Radiant Acoustics Clarity 6.2’s
I just went up to the Radiant Acoustics website.  It has an impressive presentation as well as interviews with the creators.  They look like nice bookshelf speakers for apartment living. They do need the right amp for the 85dB sensitivity (like so...
Open baffle speakers
If money is no object, one of the finest OB's out there is the Songer Audio.  It sets a standard I haven't quite heard in any OB speakers.  And the build quality is second to none.  Get ready to write a serious check, though.  https://songeraudio....

sls883:  Thanks!  The Telefunkens might be too bright in my system but I will listen a bit to how the LTA sounds from factory, then jump for those or the Siemens, depending on the effect of the LTA pre to the overall sound.  Love detail but don...

cbrez   Thanks for the tube suggestions!  I'll check in with Brent.  Of the tube swaps, which set do you feel made the most audible improvement?   I might try one set, then add changes from there...  Thanks.

cbrez: What tubes did you decide on for your upgrade replacements?
dCS Bartok Apex vs McIntosh DA2 - Trouble Hearing the Difference
If you are going to pit the Mac DAC against something closer to the price budget, consider the new Linear Tube Audio DAC.  It is very reasonably priced and is winning accolades for value and quality. I believe that DAC would be a very different so...
Borresen X3 vs Harbeth 40.2 -- my impressions
The top-of-the-line Harbeth is in a completely different price range (double), so it would not be a fair buyer's comparison. To compare apples, one might consider the Daedalus Muse Studio. Its tonal quality is striking, along with a good soundstag...
Holo May KTE vs. Lampizator Atlantic 3 TRP vs. Mola Mola Tambaqui
@audio_bidder  Tubeadapter.com has the adapter listed as "On Backorder".  There are no F2a to EL34 adapters available on the web--all sold or gone.  All eBay listings are gone.  I even wrote to a few tube adapter vendors or tube companies, statesi...
Holo May KTE vs. Lampizator Atlantic 3 TRP vs. Mola Mola Tambaqui
@audio_bidder  I've been able to source a pair of the Siemens F2a tubes but cannot locate the F2a to EL34 adapters.  Does anyone know where to locate a pair of these?  Thanks in advance.
Holo May KTE vs. Lampizator Atlantic 3 TRP vs. Mola Mola Tambaqui
@audio_bidder I have a question about the Siemens F2A.  I also have the Atlantic 3 TRP with the original stock tubes.  My unit is the 3-tube unbalanced model.  Is the Siemens compatible with this unit, and which tube would it replace?  I looked in...
Non-fatiguing speakers in $10K range?
In the $10K - 12K price range, two speakers stand out:   Borreson X3 and Daedalus Muse Studio.  The latter might take some time as it would probably be built to order. They are built in your area, and you could definitely go see Lou Hinkley and au...
Spendor D7.2 Pairing - First Watt F8
I've owned Spendors and can attest that they have strengths and weaknesses.  Also owned Harbeths.  In the same budget range, you might consider Daedalus Muse speakers.  They have a higher sensitivity, so easily driven.  They are better than any Sp...
The $10,000 Question
Speakers up to 8K, I highly recommend the Daedalus Muse speakers.  I haven't heard any better in that budget range.  Heirloom speakers that sing and can handle a wide range of amplifiers, including low-watt tubes.
Good Speakers for Rock and Roll Under 15K
Wrapping up, thanks to everyone for your input!  When opening up topics like these, the hope is that many benefit from the answers.  I've garnered much over my time in this forum just by reading questions and answers I hadn't even posed. So, hopef...
